The Robin Hood Tax: Occupy Movement now Marching Straight Off the Globalist Cliff

The Robin Hood Tax: Occupy Movement now Marching Straight Off the Globalist Cliff

    by Patrick Henningsen

    Global Research, October 26, 2011
    21st Century Wire

It was inevitable that a movement which has struggled to agree on a manifesto, would in the end, do the bidding of the very elite globalist powers that they are demonstrating against to begin with.

Instead of achieving freedom from Central Bank debt enslavement, naive Occupiers appear to have taken the bait, pulling the mob towards endorsing a global taxation system, and one to be administered…by a brand new global government body.

As the Occupy Movement sets its sights on the upcoming G20 Summit in France on November 3-4, its globalist handlers behind the scenes have succeeded in carefully directing its crowds towards the Holy Grail of all socialist super-states - the celebrity supported, trendy “Robin Hood Tax”, also known as a Tobin Tax, a financial transaction tax levied on all transactions involving shares, bonds and derivatives. Or so the plan goes…

[The video is not longer available due to copyright infringements - Barry]

The resulting funds, they claim, counted in the hundreds of billions of dollars per year, would go toward popular Bono-led liberal heart-string fantasy causes like ‘reducing poverty in the third world’, social programs and surprise, surprise… “combating climate change” and perhaps even saving polar bears – a move that would surely please desperate men like Al Gore (but a complete waste of money seeing that man-made global warming has already been thoroughly discredited).
ROBIN HOOD TAX: Utopian idea, taxing rich and taxing carbon - will not work.

The rallying cry for this globalist wet dream is coming directly from the supposed brain-child of the Occupy Movement, the globalist-backed and Soros foundation-funded organization, Ad Busters, quietly shepherding its flock towards one of the biggest revenue spinning and control scams ever conceived.
    Reuters reported Monday:
“Canada-based Adbusters wants the Occupy Wall Street protest movement against economic inequality to take to the streets to call for a 1 percent tax on such deals ahead of a November 3-4 summit of the Group of 20 (G20) leading economies in France.

“Let’s send them a clear message: We want you to slow down some of that $1.3 trillion easy money that’s sloshing around the global casino each day — enough cash to fund every social program and environmental initiative in the world,” the activist group said on its website, www.adbusters.org.

Adbusters put out the initial call for Occupy Wall Street and since protesters set up camp in a park in New York City’s financial district on September 17, they have inspired solidarity demonstrations and so-called occupations around the world.”
One might feel some compassion for Occupiers, keen to grab all of that “easy money sloshing around”… if only utopia was that easy.

In many ways, the Robin Hood Tax is an identical transaction-tax scam to the one proposed by globalists at the 2009 UN COP15 Climate Summit in Copenhagen, where a number of new taxes on financial transactions and new carbon taxes would be put into a giant “slush fund” to be handled by none other than the World Bank.

Ultimately, any Robin Hood Tax will most likely end up in a giant fund to “ensure that banks are adequately capitalized”, and one which will be used to bailout, or insure big bank losses and trillions in gambling derivative bets gone bad.

In reality, a Robin Hood Tax does just the opposite of what its name represents. Rather than stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, it is designed to steal more money through taxation from working people- money which will end up directly in the hands of institutions like the US Federal Reserve and its cartel of Wall Street banks.

In addition, such a power to levy tax will bring with it new taxes bolted on later, blanket financial taxes will eventually end up on the end of things like cash withdrawls and money transfers. Sadly, this is how governments behave.

    OWS losing the plot
It’s very easy for the throngs of young protesters to fall into an obvious socialist, or collectivist trap, as many naive young Americans are unable, or unwilling, to liberate themselves from the Hegelian dialectic which tells them that the government must raise taxes and spending in order to achieve any social progress.

It’s obvious that the number one and two problems in America are a lack of jobs and creeping inflation, a duel plague which is fueling a dropping standard of living in the US and Europe- and ultimately dissent globally. Occupiers are not asking why their government allowed US corporations to ship millions of American jobs off shore, and why it never bothered to offer incentives to foreign corporations to relocate in the US. Likewise Occupiers have not identified that their own Federal Reserve is robbing them every day by creating artificial scarcity, driving the kind of boom and bust cycles which ultimately rob Americans of their life saving and assets.

Rather than demand an additional new monster system of taxation, Occupiers should first be asking if any government can be trusted to spend their tax revenue responsibly. Certainly today it seems that pork rules in Washington and Obama’s Administration is presiding over the biggest budget deficit in the history of the US. This should be cause for alarm, yet, it’s hardly mentioned by the Occupy crowd.

Incredibly, the Occupy Movement are not asking the government to cut spending- and become fiscally responsible.
They might also consider asking their beloved government in Washington – and elsewhere around the globe too, where all their tax revenue actually goes right now. If they understood that at present, their Federal Income Tax(in some cases, collected at gunpoint by the IRS) goes directly to paying off the debt which their government owes on each and every dollar printed by the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank.

Any market tax would have to go global in order to keep industry within participating nations. Occupiers would surely be wary of allowing a Federal or global government to erect a new massive taxation system, no? Apparently, one of the great features of the Occupy Movement in America is their overwhelming loyalty and trust in the Obama administration. If it were a Republican administration in power, then it is certain that demonstrations would take a much more anti-government tone.

The OWS has, to their credit, urged protesters to close their bank accounts and transfer their money to credit unions with a bank transfer day on November 5th, certainly a step in a positive direction. But is it enough?

Real Solution: Disengage with the financial system
It’s an age-old saying, “If you’re not happy, then get out”. OWS protesters should be talking about taking steps to completely disengage from the system that enslaves them- this might include removing their hard-earned liquidity from the system by canceling all credit cards, not taking out student loans, or pointless car and electronic loans.

Another obvious trap of the Robin Hood Tax is that it could(and will) be used target all transactions – including pension funds. Occupiers might instead consider not paying in their pensions and 401K’s into stock market-indexed retirement funds. For older protesters, it might be a case of shifting their IRAs into gold and silver-backed retirement funds, disallowing the speculators and gamblers on Wall Street to decimate their life savings any further.

Has their been any call for a mass protest against the IRS, who continue to defy the US Constitution by robbing each and every working American of their labor and property in order to service their national debt to the Federal Reserve cartel? Certainly this would rock the establishment overnight. The Occupy Movement would have struck the most serious- and the most obvious blow imaginable, one which would finally call into question the legitimacy of the unconstitutional Federal income tax.

Or even better, Occupiers might consider taking the total expenditure of the US military domestically and overseas , and divide by the number of working Americans, giving them an individual figure of money which each protester will refuse to hand over to the Federal government in taxation- a peace protest combined with an intelligent liberty move by free men and women.

Sadly, none of these kind of truly revolutionary ideas have come out of the Liberty Square protests. Instead, all they could manage in the end, is to latch on to one of the most misleading and tyrannical establishment schemes, The Robin Hood Tax - where the 99% end up giving the 1% even more of their hard-earned cash. It addresses the symptom of the financial collapse, not the problem, leaving all the old players still in play to create more bubbles and make fortunes by crashing new markets.

Ironic, but this is the current direction which the angry, but naive OWS mob is being led.

If any of the 99% truly believe that the top-tier banks would happily give away billions per year to the new Robin Hood Taxman, then think again.

As history shows, their new tax will likely be imposed more stringently on small to medium size institutions and fund managers in an effort to drive out any competition to the mega banks- who already enjoy cuts to corporate income tax, and in some cases, pay no tax at all. Big banks are safe, but smaller competition will surely be hit hard by a Robin Hood Tax- ensuring the current hierarchy stays exactly as it is. This has always been the way when blanket government regulations and punitive taxes come into play.

In typically disingenuous fashion, when a mob has no clear objective it normally plays follow the leader. In this case, the leader is foundation-funded Ad Busters, who have supplied the directionless, brainless OWS movement with the very master plan to its own demise.

There, the Supreme General Assembly has taken the bait.

Here, here, Robin of the Hood.

This article (and the website it comes from) is pure dis-information coming from the "right".

Note from their "about page": "The 21st Century Wire – “News for the Waking Generation”, was officially launched in Dec 2009 at the UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen, initially as a vehicle to expose the mythology behind global warming and climate change,". It's a good example of the attempts that are being made to co-opt and discredit the movement (such as someone showing up at an Atlanta demonstration with a AK-47)

    Barry,

Your post puzzles me because you posted this https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showt...842#post142842 Are you still hoodwinked by the globalist agenda propaganda? If so, they've done their job well, and I still have a lot of work to do. They have done their job well. Just look around. Your average person still believes in man made global warming.

If you haven't had a chance yet, take in the history of these ruling elite so you can better understand how they work.
    https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showt...m&p=142365#top

The idea of global warming and climate change caused by humans IS a scam. Global warming and climate change are happening on Earth, but are also increasing on Mercury, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. And to the best of our knowledge there aren't a bunch of factories and SUV's on these planets. So carbon tax my ass's gas!

    https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showt...erplanetary%3F

I am beyond left or right. And so are the global elite. They do not recognize national borders. They do not vote Republican or Democrat. They manipulate through these channels. They created this dichotomy to divide and conquer, a favorite game of theirs.

I am interested only in educating where propaganda is accepted as truth. And I find the golden thread of truth from many sources. I posted an article on George Soros from an author who is clearly a social conservative. But my point was to expound on David Icke's education, that Soros has been actively working to destroy America from the inside out for some years now, and the author did it well.

So I won't write off something as "rightist" or "leftist," and my affiliation with neither makes it a lot easier for me to not fall prey to lamestream media propaganda. My mind is free to see beyond black or white.

This is the continuation of what you were posting about the source of the article.
    ABOUT 21st CENTURY WIRE…

By 21st Century Wire WHAT ARE WE?

The 21st Century Wire – “News for the Waking Generation”, was officially launched in Dec 2009 at the UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen, initially as a vehicle to expose the mythology behind global warming and climate change, and has since expanded coverage to include exposés on intelligence, foreign policy, the war on terror, technology and Wall Street. Besides demonstrating freedom speech and thought, one of the main intentions of 21st Century Wire is to empower readers by giving them the tools to decode mainstream propaganda. Inspired by sites like Infowars.com, we try to offer a historical perspective on contemporary issues and where possible, provide strategic reference links throughout our content- allowing you the reader to delve deeper into the issues- if you so choose
    EDUCATE YOURSELF

The 21st Century is the beginning of a new information epoch and you, the reader, are the freshman class of critical thinkers in terms of news analysis and consumption. In its totality, there is an immense volume of information to be had on the internet but we truly believe that in this new decentralised, grassroots and egalitarian world-wide web, the cream will eventually rise to the top.

In spite of the internet revolution, the traditional mainstream media (MSM) still clings to a predictable and monolithic format which is one of the reasons why the alternative media is winning large portions of their audience every day. We know the free internet is all about choice and interaction, and not about being force-fed a narrow band of information from a few major networks. It’s not about being a passive couch surfer, it’s about you- going out and digging to find the blog or video you are looking for. That’s why you are here now- and not reading news off of CNN.com, FOXNEWS.com or the TIMES ONLINE. Try explaining that one to a room full of TV execs…
    OUR MISSION

Aside from the independent media remit, our number one intention here is to get you thinking, and hopefully inspire you to take on an active role yourself, perhaps by creating your own website or information portal. This may be by using free blog software, creating your own podcast, Youtube channel, or just by utilising social networks like Facebook or Twitter.
    EDITORIAL POLICY

The editorial policy of 21st Century Wire is simple and resides above partisan politics and the traditional Left vs Right paradigm which we believe only serves to divide people who have more in common than not. Rather than aligning our slate with any particular party or ideology, we will attempt to deliver content that looks squarely at power, its architecture, as well as the seeds corruption. We will also try to stay within that which can be proven, or at least corroborated by credible sources. So our remit is to identify, inform, enlighten, and offer solutions where possible. It’s a tall order for sure, but we promise to do our very best…

So what's not to like about those values?

… A RIDDLE WRAPPED IN A MYSTERY INSIDE AN ENIGMA

I am seeing the mentality of what is called the political 'Left’ – which includes the core of the ‘Greens’ – much in evidence in these protests. This mentality thinks it is informed and streetwise about global events when its myopia makes it a manipulator’s party trick.

It sees the world in black and white when the world is multi-coloured. It sees an ‘us’ and ‘them’ on either side of an easily definable line based on background, income bracket and voting preference. Filmmaker Michael Moore is a classic, or at least that is the persona he promotes. Democrats good (or better) and Republicans bad; The Left is good, the Right is bad.

The fact that all these different political ‘sides’ are directed by the same force to give the illusion of ‘choice’ is beyond them to comprehend, not least because they don’t want to comprehend it. To do so would shatter their black and white world view of Left v Right and that is the comfort zone they don’t want to surrender. But they must to take this forward.

Michael Moore and so many others of his ilk – including many of those in the Wall Street-type protests – will have enthusiastically supported Barack Obama in 2008 when he was the most obvious fraud you could ever imagine.

If they are continuing with that same black and white ‘us and them’ naivety today – and some are because I have seen them – then they may as well go home. The system will have them for breakfast, dinner and tea.

The Left mentality cannot see the global conspiracy because it can only see the us and them. To accept the existence of a Hidden Hand they would have to accept that the Left is being manipulated by the same force that manipulates the Right and the Centre. Many can’t handle that and so it is dismissed by reflex action.

Finally someone articulates what I've been experiencing here on Waccobb and many places...dismissed by reflex action because they can't admit that they've been manipulated by a Hidden Hand. And hence massive denial. But as Icke writes, "they must [come out of denial] to take this forward."

Your premise: They see everything in black or white, left or right good or bad, and then the the entire piece presents endless dualisms. Judge the us and them in them and then you best hear it in yourself Do you like the dualities or are you saying we are all one? Both/And?
I hope this doesn't make any sense and made you laugh! ( a new attempt at brevity)

Well, here is another perspective on this long overdue movement:

    Occupy Participation (part 2): #SomeThingsAreBiggerThanAnyOfUs
    Mickey Z.

"There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
    -
    Anais Nin

As the eloquent Ms. Nin explains above, there is such a thing as a pain threshold. In the struggle for social change, this may be the point at which inaction become more agonizing than the fear we all harbor about stepping up and challenging this destructive culture.

I've often wondered when we will collectively decide that we're less afraid of the State than of living on a planet without trees, without drinkable water, without arable land, without a hint of justice. Thanks to Occupy Wall Street (OWS) and all related efforts, this moment is getting closer with each passing day and in that spirit, I'll say ssssshhhhhhh…

Silence your cell phones, your TVs, silence the noise in your head...and just listen. Listen carefully. Can you hear it? It's a cry from the future, a mournful plea begging us to capture this moment. Can you hear it? Will you hear it? Or have you gotten so accustomed to losing that you choose instead to cover your ears, bury your head—finding endless excuses and myriad methods to ignore and/or discredit the effort?

Listen again. Listen closer. This is probably our last, best chance...it's nothing less than the call to global revolution. How will you answer?

    Some perspective for the 98%...
Up till now, perhaps only 1% of the 99% have even heard the call and I'll get to them in a minute. This is for the other 98%:

There was a time when human slavery was believed too deeply entrenched in American culture to ever be abolished. But the movement to end this "peculiar institution" was made up of individuals willing to recognize that some things in life are bigger than any of us.

Whether they literally risked their lives by rescuing slaves and running the Underground Railroad or played a role by sewing clothes or blankets for escaped slaves or lending financial support or handing out pamphlets or even writing books like Uncle Tom’s Cabin, the effort needed every single one of these brave humans doing their part—small or large.

What seems impossible and irreversible today can be addressed if we're willing to wake up and do the hard work. If we’re willing to stop making excuses for the reprehensible leaders (sic)—both political and corporate—who profit from our complacency.

So, the next time you’re about zone out to a Will & Grace re-run, why not do some deep contemplation instead? Take a good, long look into your heart and an even longer look at the choices you make all day, every day—not from place of guilt and shame but with a sense of revelation. Accept the challenge to be better a human being, a more responsible earthling.

Nothing will change until we change our minds but it takes courage to perform self-examination. It takes courage to accept everything you know just might be wrong. For the record, it takes far more courage to do this than to willingly enlist to be paid to wage illegal and immoral wars.

It's not the volunteer mercenaries in places like Afghanistan who are fighting for our freedom. It's OWS.

Some perspective for the other 1%...
Maybe 1% of the 1% who have heard the call are opting—for a variety of reasons—to discount its urgency for reasons ranging from isolated incidents of sexism-racism-classism to word usage to (possibly) being bitter and jealous that their hard work never captured the public's attention as OWS has. There are even some activists expending energy hating on the drum circles. #huh?

You spend much of your life contemplating social change but when the revolution makes an unannounced appearance, you choose to downplay it? Perhaps the noise of displaying superior vision is drowning out the desperate call for help. If so, I suggest:

De-occupy the grad school dissertations, reject the fascism of semantics, kick the habit of cynicism disguised as cleverness, scrap the resentment and the rivalries, ditch the dated doctrines, risk imperfection, and simply—for at least a little while—choose feeling over thinking.

Get quiet and listen to your allies in Egypt, when they pronounce:

"We stand with you not just in your attempts to bring down the old but to experiment with the new. We are not protesting. Who is there to protest to? What could we ask them for that they could grant? We are occupying. We are reclaiming those same spaces of public practice that have been commodified, privatized and locked into the hands of faceless bureaucracy, real estate portfolios, and police ‘protection’. Hold on to these spaces, nurture them, and let the boundaries of your occupations grow."

    Experiment with the new…

Of course, OWS is not perfect and some occupants act like assholes and mistakes have been made (and will continue to be made). I'm not suggesting anyone march in lockstep but jesus-occupied-christ, how about a little more patience and cohesion on the Left?

The future doesn't send text messages
We can’t be as indifferent or leisurely as those who came before us. They didn’t think urgently enough about future generations so now we have to work twice as hard. It sucks, I know, but this not an issue of fairness. It’s about survival.

Returning to Anais Nin and the opening quote: It's time to blossom. Even with all the fear, pain, dread, and uncertainty we may (or may not) experience while blossoming, remaining tight in the bud is no longer an option…for us or for the planet.

So, please ask yourself: What unique gifts do I possess that I can share—as soon as possible—with the growing OWS movement? The call has been made so surrender your list of preconditions and just leap. Who knows, a net may even appear.

Listen again to our compatriots in Cairo:

"Our only real advice to you is to continue, keep going and do not stop. Occupy more, find each other, build larger and larger networks and keep discovering new ways to experiment with social life, consensus, and democracy. Discover new ways to use these spaces, discover new ways to hold on to them and never give them up again. Resist fiercely when you are under attack, but otherwise take pleasure in what you are doing, let it be easy, fun even. We are all watching one another now, and from Cairo we want to say that we are in solidarity with you, and we love you all for what you are doing."

On that note of solidarity, I beseech you to rise above your urge to critique, your need to be right, your fear of the unknown…and just listen. It's not about purity. It's not about who did what or said what first. It's not about following a predetermined game plan. It's not about waiting for the ideal time to jump on board. It's a fuckin' revolution—in the name of all life on earth—so shrug off the excuses and get involved.

The anti-slavery movement recognized that some things in life are bigger than any of us. Today, the entire planet is enslaved…to profit-seeking, landbase-consuming corporations and the corrupt politicians they own (yes, including the vaunted Pope of Hope). Thankfully, this generation’s abolitionists are choosing to take a stand and create change. Not ask for change, create change. And they need your support. They need you.

Silence the sirens of archaic archetypes, open your minds to new configurations, and heed the call of the future. I promise it'll be a lot more fun that you ever imagined.

    #OccupyImperfection. #OccupyUrgency. #OccupyParticipation.

No, Barry, you need to dig a little deeper before you judge the Sources of someone's post and make prununciamentos, like the one you made above. Prof. Michael Chossudovsky, whose website, Global Research, also hosted the article, by Patrick Henningsen, that Liz posted, certainly can not be typified as a "right-winger" by any means, at all. Instead, he is a very deep, and certified Radical. Here is another article, by Michael Chossudovsky himself, on his website, which takes Patrick Henningsen's arguments a few steps further: Occupy Wall Street and "The American Autumn": Is It a "Colored Revolution"?

Furthermore, Barry, "Left & Right" really is a Game; and the Power Elite are very much beyond those labels, in the level of their cunning, and political sophistication - and in their own position, in relation to the Spectrum itself. They really are above it all... And, yes, they really do finance all the sectors of the political Spectrum; including the Left.

I would refer you all to the diagram of the Political Spectrum
that I proposed in my Article, The Mobius=Continuum Model of the Spectrum:

Also - and this is very important to always remember, when dealing in the world of politics - "disinformation" always contains a fair amount of truth; that is, facts. Else it would not be "disinformation." And I, as the grandchild of Socialists, can say that I find much truth in the article Liz posted. For instance:

    Quote Patrick Henningsen wrote:

Instead, all they could manage in the end, is to latch on to one of the most misleading and tyrannical establishment schemes,
The Robin Hood Tax - where the 99% end up giving the 1% even more of their hard-earned cash. It addresses the symptom of the financial collapse, not the problem, leaving all the old players still in play to create more bubbles and make fortunes by crashing new markets.

    Sincerely,

    Mark Walter Evans

Ron Paul: Occupy movement is ‘very good, and very risky’

Ron Paul: Occupy movement is ‘very good, and very risky’

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul said Tuesday that he had mixed feelings about the Occupy Wall Street movement.

“I think it’s both very good, and very risky,” he said in an interview with The Des Moines Register. “I think there are a few that attend these rallies that actually want more government — they want to just tax people more and believe if we just taxed the 1 percent, it could solve all the problems.

“That, to me, is a risky idea.” Paul continued. “But I think that the majority of them think government is the problem and taxes are too high and they know that the Federal Reserve plays a role in this, which, of course, is something I agree with.”

The national protest also highlights the degree to which the U.S. monetary policy has hurt average Americans, said Paul. The Texas Congressman was in Iowa for the National Association of Manufacturers presidential candidate forum in Pella, and took time to speak to voters in Oskaloosa and Ottumwa.

“Last year it was the tea party people that were unhappy, and now it’s the Occupy people,” Paul said. “I don’t think it’s as simple as Republicans and Democrats. I believe they are all lumped together being unhappy with government for different reasons.”

OTHER THEMES: Paul continued to pitch his “Plan to Restore America,” released last month. The proposal would cut $1 trillion in federal spending during the first year of a Paul presidency by eliminating the federal departments of energy, housing and urban development, commerce, interior, and education.

The initial cuts would bring the U.S. closer to paying down the national debt and could spur economic growth for the nation, Paul told the audience in Oskaloosa.

“The support has been growing because people are starting to wake up and realize that if you get into trouble spending too much money, then spending more money is not going to solve the problem,” Paul said.

Ron Paul wants to restore America (US) by "eliminating the federal departments of energy, housing and urban development, commerce, interior, and education."?? And his supporters think this is a good thing? That's what the Teabaggers are attempting now -- including Ron's offspring, Rand Paul.

Ron Paul has it wrong about the Occupy movement which is not about dismantling government programs that benefit citizens. Rather it's about the the 1% that controls the wealth and resources throughout the world. It is democratic movement to take control from that handful of self appointed privileged class.

I hope that Ron Paul naive supporters do some serious critical thinking about his agenda.

Well spoken reasons not to split into right or left.

I am not criticizing this movement. I care about it deeply and want to see it produce across the board revolutionary changes. I'm aware how fragile the movement is and I want to protect it from being co-opted by the 1% who are masters at social engineering and hold themselves above the law. Education is key to this. I'm very glad to see the new invitation to dialog thread.

    Liz
