They Run, Them Buffalo
Before the first Honkey White Man
Primeval; It Growed on Every Hand
There was, Now, there Was;
There was some Awesome Trees,
A way Down in the South-East Now,
They was a-blowin' with the Breeze.
This Forest Grew up from the Mud
This Forest Grew through Time
This Forest Grew after the Flood
From Seaweed and from Slime
This Forest grew so High,
That you could Walk beneath
Its Shroud, and scarcely See the Sky
There was, Now, there Was,
There was some Awesome Trees,
A way Down in the South-East Now,
They was a-blowin' with the Breeze.
From out o’ Seaweed & a’ Mud,
This Forest Grew Quite Big,
And When he lost this Forest, Now,
I’m talkin’ Now, o’ George the Third;
The one they said was Bad;
'Twas that which Drove him Mad.
There was, Now, there Was;
There was some Awesome Trees,
A way Down in the South-East Now,
They was a-blowin' with the Breeze.
Co-incidently, with them Trees,
Now, a long, long, Time Ago.
They Run them Buffalo, All up
Five Thousand Years or more...
From Maysville on the Ohio,
Way Down to Natchez Trace, There Ran
All through the Forest's Span there Ran,
There Ran them Buffalo...
For through it like a River Ran;
There Ran Them Ancien Buffalo;
That ribbon o' highway Buffalo Trace,
Was Range for them auld Buffalo...
They Was Now, They Was, Now,
They was Travellin’' Buffalo,
Who would Winter down in Natchez,
And Summer on the Ohio...
They Run them Buffalo, All up
and Down that old Buffalo Trace,
Five Thousand Years or more...
Co-incidently, with them Trees,
A' way Down in the South-East,
Now, a long, long, Time Ago.
They Run them Buffalo, All up
and Down that old Buffalo Trace,
Five Thousand Years or more...
