Governor Perry turns to the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT in time of need

Quote Texas Blaze Destroys 1,000 Homes

The wildfire currently raging in Texas’s Bastrop County near Austin is the single worst blaze in the state's history: it has burned 1,000 homes so far, more than any previous fire in the state. The fire—one of at least 63 currently burning in the state—has scorched 100,000 acres so far, fueled, in part, by strong winds from Tropical Storm Lee. Gov. Rick Perry returned from presidential campaigning to offer assistance and said he would seek a federal-disaster declaration.

Please note: When disaster strikes, Governor (and, unfortunately, Presidential Contender) Rick Perry turns to the Federal Government. Apparently his attempt to ease the drought with prayer failed. When will he (and the Republicans and the Tea Party) learn that GLOBAL WARMING is responsible for . . . wait for it . . . GLOBAL WARMING!! When will they learn that FEDERAL REGULATIONS OF EMISSIONS and THE EPA can begin the process of easing emissions and warming and drought?

For that matter, none of the prayers to "god" that have been made over the millennia appear to have been effective. Certainly wars, famines, pestilences, droughts, hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, and wildfires have not been stopped. I sincerely hope that "god" doesn't answer Perry's (or Bachmann's, or Palin's, or Santorum's) prayer that he be elected to the presidency. A strong federal government with adequate regulation of industrial pollution would appear to be a far better bulwark against man-made disasters than prayer.
