If you love nature and children, consider becoming a docent at the Bouverie Preserve of Audubon Canyon Ranch, a 535-acre nature preserve in Glen Ellen. Docent training, which starts in September, 2011, consists of 23 Wednesdays of outstanding presentations by experts on natural history. You not only learn things about natural history you probably never knew, but you also have the opportunity for ongoing education, hiking privileges at the Preserve, spending time with others with interests similar to yours, and sharing your interests with others.
Call 707-938-4554 or email [email protected], to find out what docenting is all about, and to take an orientation hike at the Bouverie Preserve. Also look at the Audubon Canyon Ranch website at www.egret.org. You can download a docent training application by going to “What’s New” and then “Become a Bouverie Docent”.
