Mifi internet in west county? Verizon 3G coverage?

Anybody using MiFi as an internet solution? Verizon claims to have 3G coverage all the way to the coast. With the Verizon MiFi device, some Googled folks say they getting 1.7mbps, twice the speed that we are getting with the most expensive Wildblue service. Any feedback welcomed.

We're using a 3G wireless router from Sprint that's 2-3 X faster than what we got with Wildblue. It's called Overdrive by Sierra Wireless. The cost is 59.00/ mo. It can be finicky, and you will spend time with tech support getting it back on track. That said it's a huge improvement over satellite. Go on to the Sprint website and check out their coverage map to make sure you are in a good spot for reception. We struck out with Verizon as we got no reception in our area (near Graton). Good luck!

We're using cell network data service for Internet access. Ours is provided by Virgin-Mobile over the Sprint network. It costs considerably less than Sprint charges. The only problem might be finding the MiFi connection/router device, which you only need if you have more than one computer (try Radio Shack and Walmart). There's also a USB device if you're only connecting one computer. Of course, you also have to be within range of a Sprint tower.

It is way better than satellite service (we formerly had WildBlue), although it is also down at times.
