Painting by Kennard Phillip July 25, 2010 For a long time, I so much avoided writing this post, it was on my mind for a long time but I kept on delaying it and delaying it and delaying it, till I became so depressed, so not in the mood and a lump in my throat and said "Fuck it...its not going to make any difference if I add more salt to the wound." The truth is...there is so much destruction in Iraq that it wont be repaired till all the Iraqis' bones have become fossil fuels, and there are things that wont get repaired at all, repairing the people who were beaten, raped, prisoned, tortured, lost a loved one... repairing them Psychologically in Rehab institutes...this is impossible...humans dont forget what bad has been done to them and what injustice has been done to them. Its just the way God created them...they dont have a delete button like a PC...they never forget. Just like Layla Anwar said...its all in the head. Iraq needs billions and billions and billions and billions of dollars if not trillions to be repaired, and I am not talking about investment...fuck you and your investments. I am talking about repairing the infrastructure, the hospitals, the buildings, the economy, the farms that their palm trees were rooted deliberately. And as I said there are things that wont be repaired...it is just impossible to repair them, be my guest and read an article below from The Independent about Fallujah being worse than Hiroshima. Ever body knows that the bastard Americans used depleted uranium, internationally illegal weapons such as napalm and other sick chemical weapons. The cost of rebuilding Iraq can easily be borne by Iraq. It is one of the wealthiest nations in the world and can simply pump money out of the ground (figuratively speaking) much as Saudi Arabia does. The only reason Americans are contributing is that Democrats screamed that we must NOT accept payment by Iraq for modernizing their nation. Other nations involved in modernizing Iraq's infrastructure are happily being paid in oil (money simply pumped out of the ground).

As for the human cost - war always comes with horror. Sadly, Socialist Saddam's "peace" came with much greater horror with families thrown into the plastic shredders if a child happened to say something critical of Saddam in school. No wonder he got 100% voter approval ratings.

Saddam manufactured crises with great regularity, in standard Socialist fashion, to keep his people afraid and under control. He drained the swamplands used by the Kurdish people to starve them. He cut off electricity to various towns to punish them. He even ordered entire towns to be exterminated with various chemical artillery shells, in large part to study the effects of those chemicals on a population. As his own documentation reported, people dying from cyanide shells generally died "happy". The rest died horribly.

Nerve agents, such as those found in 55 gallon drums at artillery loading sites when our troops rolled in, produced some horrific deaths.

The "ultimate" truth? We don't have enough time or space in our lives to report it all. It is different for each person living in Iraq. It is the sorrow and anger of a Sunni, formerly enjoying special treatment by Saddam, who now must be on equal terms with the rest of the Iraqis. It is the joy of townspeople who now don't have to worry that their own government will halt food shipments and shut off their electricity (needed to pump water, etc). It is a very complicated situation.

The good news: Iraqis have the chance to steer their nation on the path to a prosperous, free future IF THEY HAVE THE WILL TO DO SO.
