Mark Your Calendars For Saturday April 29th!!!

THE SONOMA COUNTY EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS EVENT:
Due to the generosity of Scott Humble, we have secured The Forestville Elementary School for a Forestville Emergency Preparedness event! On Saturday April 29th from 1 PM until 5 PM we are having a town meeting to facilitate an emergency preparedness education with all of the important agencies present so that we as an area can be really prepared. We are hoping that Forestville residents and residents of the surrounding area will join in the event! April is Earthquake Preparedness month and this is our time to learn from:

    • The American Red Cross
    • The Salvation Army
    • Community Resources for Independence/Interfaith Disaster Agency
    • Forestville Fire Department
    • Monte Rio Fire Department
    • A Former Fire Battalion Chief from Oakland
    • Food For Thought
    • Scott Humble (County Superintendent of Schools)
    • and members of the Local DAT (Disaster Action Team)
will be there to bring the concept of SELF-PREPAREDNESS to everyone who comes. There will be a special program for children called: Disaster Dudes which is a program offered through The American Red Cross teaching children how to be prepared and how to lead their friends into becoming prepared. Disaster Dudes will be offered during the afternoon on April 29th to children who sign up in advance and whose parents will be there to learn with them. Contact “TFJLC” to sign up! SPACE IS LIMITED for Disaster Dudes—so register early!

The American Red Cross will be bringing their Emergency Preparedness Vehicle and will be displaying items that they suggest having as disaster supplies. The Salvation Army is bringing their Emergency Kitchen and will be giving away snacks and water. The Sebastopol Hardware Store will be displaying in a booth their products that they offer to promote emergency preparedness. There will be a fund-raising raffle of emergency supplies and a fundraising bake sale to support the work of: The Forestville Joyful Living Center (501 © (4) social welfare organization who is dedicated to community health and education. We are in need to volunteers to help with sound system, with donations of baked goods, and with set-up and clean-up.

We are also looking for other experts in this field to do presentations and to have booths. Calendar this event which is critical. We need to individually take the time to become educated as well as come up with a local plan for our community. Members of The Forestville Joyful Living Center are currently training as a “Disaster Action Team” for this area. Other local agencies have been contacted and we are just in the process of formatting the event! Come and support our good intentions. This is an ALL- FAMILY event. There will be a panel discussion at the end of the event so that your questions will be answered. There will be something for everyone: videos, a panel discussion, booths, a raffle, a bake sale, and presentations!
