Help Marin County Families Get the Tax Refund They Deserve!

The Earn It! Keep It! Save It! Marin coalition provides free tax preparation to low- to moderate-income individuals, families, and seniors. Tax returns are prepared by trained volunteers through a partnership with AARP Tax-Aide, United Way of the Bay Area, IRS, Prosperity Partners, and other local community organizations. We need your help to reach even more families in 2010!

Last year, AARP Tax-Aide and local free tax sites in Marin County completed over 2,900 tax returns that resulted in $2.4 million in total refunds. This is money that was returned to the pockets of Marin residents and put back into the local economy!

Please join our exciting coalition of volunteers – we will provide training and link you to a local site to assist low-income families and seniors in your community. We have sites throughout Marin including San Rafael, Novato, Mill Valley, Marin City, Terra Linda, and Fairfax. This is a great way to learn new skills and be involved in making a difference in your community.

We highly encourage those who are bilingual in Spanish to contact us!

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Reed Mayfield at 415.526.7533 or by e-mail at [email protected]

For more information, please visit www.earnitkeepitsaveit.org

Requirements: We ask that volunteers be comfortable working with a computer. All of our tax preparers and screeners must be trained and certified by the IRS. Training classes take place in January and vary from 6 – 8 days of class (both weekday and evening/weekend sessions are available). For tax professionals or experienced volunteers, an online training and certification tool is available. Site operation hours vary by site but each volunteer is asked to commit to at least 40 hours during the 10 week tax season from February 1st through April 15th.
