Thank you for this post. Not much to disagree with there, but a whole lotta love for the party of thugs is just half the story: the First Line can only be corrected to 'Dear Republicans AND DEMOCRATS", etc., etc.

You can't take too seriously any diatribe about the status quo suckage of American government, politics, and culture, throughout the imperial history of the US, that singles out one party over another for its abysmally amoral, criminal, and traitorous betrayals of human decency and justice. Democrats, at the very least those individuals who purport to represent our "best interests," in the seats of government, corporations, media, the military.... are all very much as responsible for global dysfunction as are Republicans. The way I look at the failure of government is that it's been subterfuged by corporate interests and the executive, legislative, and judicial branches' bending over for corporate lobbyists. Capitalism is the root problem, not government, which no matter what you think, has a social contract with the citizens of any country, and serves the collective public interest better than any corporation. All those failures you cite are red herrings, more appropriately used to illustrate how government programs fail when politics and greed are involved in running government, instead of letting professionals do their jobs. Your deceptions and misconceptions about the federal "bailout" bill are especially egregious, when this bill was intended only to pay for the failures of the banking and investment industries - the very core of western capitalism - with the taxes we pay, regardless of what any of us were led to believe. Moreover, eliminating the federal deficit is as easy as closing the corporate-sponsored military bases around the world, stopping the production of weapons, and spending that money on domestic programs. Obama is just another in a long line of corporate and Israeli lobby pawns, committed to preserving the flailing state of capitalist chicanery even if we're subjected to totalitarianism.
