Just posted a 2500 word blog (we used to call them essays) entitled "Becoming a Poet".

BECOMING A POET by Max Reif

Did not consciously do it to coincide with National Poetry Month, but it worked out that way, which seems cool.

The piece contains some particularly colorful stories of Robert Bly.

It tries to trace a long procees of a)becoming a poet, after growing up in a family of salesmen, so to speak, and b)dealing with some of the special issues of being a spiritually-inclined poet. Part 4 attempts to discuss some experiences having to do with "words and Silence".

This is my first post on this site. I've sort of "been" here before via the generosity of the intrepid Larry Robinson, who has occasionally sent out my work as part of his wonderful daily poem service.

Feedback appreciated.

Best,
Max
