Wow Barry...outstanding explanation, concise presentation, and worth so much more than a click on the old gratitude button.
    Thanks
Russ ...grateful to finally learn the answer to this ancient mystery.

I'm SO dense. Obviously not Mensa Material.
I just don't quite get it.
You open up the edifice by hyperextending the neck using a rope. Out pops a pink bath tub, or is it a giant bar of pink soap? Then you worship at the Altar of Mr. Clean? Am I even on the right track? One of us is badly twisted. Maybe both of us. Help me, please, somebody!

Jeffrey...do you remember those Pez candy dispensers which popped out a little pill sized candy ?
Hope so because if not you'll still be in the dark.

Re: The truth behind the Easter Island statues

Amazingly enough this "truth" ties the mysterious volcanic stone statues of the, at least partially, Polynesian Island of Rapa Nui (AKA Easter Island) to the possible next Governor of California (although I sincerely hope not), Meg Whitman. Ms Whitman has capped a successful business career as Prez of Ebay since it's early days. Ebay was actually started as a vehicle for the founder to market collectable Pez dispensers and network with other Pez heads. There you go...
I've been to Rapa Nui, Chile, and it is truly mysterious and in the middle of nowhere. Without the wheel it s hard to imagine how these often huge statues were moved miles from where they were quarried. Slid around on crushed potatoes?
Accessible only from Tahiti or Santiago on Lan Chile Air. Check it out! While in SA go to Guayaquil, Ecuador to fly to the Galapagos Islands
