Obama transition health care e-forum for Waccobb community: question 2

Q: How do you choose a doctor or hospital? What are your sources of information? How should public policy promote quality health care providers?

    Response from in-person forum:
We find doctors by getting referrals, asking around, doing research and educating self about the different types of practices available.

With an overall health care reform package we recommend including a policy where doctors offer a free initial consultation to allow patients to get to know practitioner. Also another public health job, to help ensure quality health care providers, would be to create performance statistics from practitioners and making those available to the public.

We choose our local community clinics that offer sliding scale or low cost options. Fortunately have not had a need for a hospital in years. Use the internet to inform people of their options.
