    Government and Community roles/differences

I am starting this thread as an offshoot of Franklin Johnson's "Bible is filled with bigotry".

It seems to me that Government when actively participated in by "The People" is community in action. When people talk about limiting governments role in issues like health care it seems to contradict the idea that communities need to help care for their members. An example is a senior services center funded by a town or county, that is both community and government.
I think the real work is to get people to realize that if there is more active participation Government is part of the community.
Is being politically active in promoting what you believe is important to you, your community and the world at odds with seeking out like minded intentional community or are they symbiotic?
