    Bailout- suggestions

Bill Clinton had some good suggestions regarding the bailout, instead of using it as an opportunity to put each other down. And, Congress will vote it in eventually- we should demand a high interest rate and ownership of some sort- so that we ultimately gain something positive from this. And banks could be re-working loans for people loosing their homes to make the payments lower and/ or flexible.

    Re: Bailout- suggestions

Ok, i admit I am not following the political stuff as closely as maybe I ought to.

Here is what I understand. The banks and other big companies are in financial trouble based on bad lending practices, bad choices and some bad luck.

The government wants to bail them out because if they dont there will be a big fall out with loss of homes, loss of jobs, loss of smaller business's, loss of access to medical care. loss of 401K's and other savings etc.

Some people think thats a bad idea because the big corporations will run with the bail out money, and the little people - those who cant pay their mortgage for instance wont see a dime of that money. Some people also dont like this idea because the big CEO's who has run the companies into the ground still get to cash in large checks. Argument makes sense to me.

So why not make a bail out plan focused on the little people instead of the corporations? How about bail out plans that specifically focus on getting money to people defaulting on their loans, help small business's get additional operating cash, replace retirement savings etc. Am I missing something or is it mainly due to corruption at the highest levels this is not being considered? Or maybe it is just such a thing that makes so much sense to those at the bottom, but at the top they cant see the forest because all those trees get in the way.

And Fer Crying Out Loud - dont give any money to the corrupt CEO's. Let them try to work for a living for once.
