In 2020, the U.S. will elect not only a President, but also conduct important national and sub-national elections affecting the future direction of the nation. Just months after a divisive impeachment process, the nation is in the midst of an epic Election Year. This talk examines the dynamics and likely outcomes affecting political actors and institutions as the process of electioneering unfolds. Additional focus is on how changing demographics, campaign dollars, and issues such as the economy and foreign policy all join to determine election outcomes.
Dr. David McCuan, a native Californian, joined the faculty of Sonoma State University in Fall 2003. His scholarly expertise rests in two broad areas — American politics and International Relations. In addition to teaching, Professor McCuan does extensive commentary and has had multiple media appearances ranging from The New York Times and POLITICO to The Healdsburg Tribune and everything in between.
