There was no lockdown for TB, which is much worse than CV-19. So...?

I believe that the whole Covid-19 thing has been hugely exaggerated for reasons having nothing to do with protecting people’s health, but rather for the purpose of controlling people. Consider the following:

WHO: Tuberculosis is the world’s deadliest infectious disease

“Tuberculosis kills more people than any other infectious disease, according to information shared by the United Nations (UN) on Tuesday.

“Around 1.5 million people died from the bacterial infection in 2018, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported. . . . Over 4,000 people die of tuberculosis every day.”

In 2017, deaths from TB were 1.6 million, according to WHO.

Compare this with the alleged deaths from Covid-19:

Since 31 December 2019 and as of 16 September 2020, (in accordance with the applied case definitions and testing strategies in the affected countries) 935, 767 deaths have been reported.

“The total number of reported COVID-19 deaths has shifted to include both probable and confirmed deaths, which lead to a steep increase on the 7 September. “ I.e., the number of CV-19 deaths has been inflated.

Please think about this. TB is the most infectious disease in the world. It claims more lives than Covid-19, even allowing for inflated statistics for the latter. It has been around much longer than CV-19. Yet there has been no shutdown of the global economy for TB. To shut down the world economy for less reason is either monumentally stupid, or else is a deliberate destruction of people’s livelihoods and health for the purpose of centralizing control.

Tuberculosis is a complex but fairly easily treated BACTERIAL disease. There is a vaccine for it but is not widely used in US because we have had very few cases recently. The vaccine is used in situations where contracting this contagious disease is a concern, like other countries, or where a family member has contrcted it.

    THIS IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM:

Covid 19, which is a VIRAL disease, highly contagious, and with NO known vaccines or preventions, other than isolation and masks, which are both difficult to control.

Re: There was no lockdown for TB, which is much worse than CV-19. So...?

The comparison falls short. With a near global lockdown due to covid, with China, Europe and others doing far more stringent lockdowns then anything seen in the US, daily deaths have matched or exceeded those from TB. Without such a lockdown they would have been far higher.

TB is a known quantity- it has been with us for centuries. Those as old or older then I may remember getting a TB test or vaccine. Between the vaccine and antibiotics, as well as the pasterization of milk (the disease is most often spread by cows in their milk) the disease was largely wiped out in developed countries.
TB has made a comeback in parts of the world due to largely to a couple antibiotic resistant strains. But it is still mainly a problem in underdeveloped parts of SE Asia and Africa- areas where people aren’t vacinated, milk isn’t pasteurized, and healthcare is lacking.

And frankly- TB is not that transmissable among humans, and the populations most affected are not big travellers so the risk outside of certain populations is low.

I know I won’t change your mind- you’ll believe whatever crap you want to. But for ghe rest of the people in the community and the world- please wash your hands and wear a mask.

From a medical point of view, the comparison makes no sense at all. Sorry.

Re: There was no lockdown for TB, which is much worse than CV-19. So...?

Two people have responded to my post about Tuberculosis. Both said, essentially, that TB and CV-19 are not comparable because CV is a virus, whereas TB is a bacterium; TB has a vaccine, whereas CV doesn't; and TB has been largely controlled in first world countries, so the global death rate is mostly from poorer countries that don't have such resources.

These points, although correct, do not answer the point I was making. Granted that most TB cases were in those poorer countries; granted that there exists a vaccine, which apparently works, but which these poorer countries don't seem to have. The fact remains, reported on the WHO site, that a million and a half people have died each year from TB. (And it is not true, according to the WHO, that "TB is not that transmissible". According to the WHO, "Tuberculosis is the world’s deadliest infectious disease", which it could not be if it wasn't too transmissible.) Their governments were probably too poor to afford the vaccine, but as we can now see, they have somehow managed to issue masks to every citizen and destroy their already teetering economies in the name of preventing the spread of CV.

My question is, why couldn't they have done this to prevent the spread of TB? Bacteria like TB are much larger than viruses, and would certainly be captured by any mask that would capture the CV virus; and they could have instigated the same rules we now have to destroy their economies, if they had seriously considered it necessary. But no one did any of this until we were all told to do so. Why was this? Just didn't think of it before? Or maybe they did think of it, and calculated that the benefit of saving lives from TB was not worth the greater cost of massive suffering and inevitable death from economic disaster. That strikes me as a reasonable possibility.

"Should you ignore the warnings to wear a mask to protect against COVID-19 since the media and government are not also warning you to wear a mask to protect against tuberculosis? No, that's not true: COVID-19 is far more prevalent and deadly than tuberculosis in the United States. As of this writing, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than one million cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the United States since January 21, 2020 -- and more than 65,000 people have died. By contrast, using the most recent CDC numbers available, 515 people died from tuberculosis in the U.S., in 2017."

This is just the first paragraph - there's more.
