The Coolerators will fill the New Cotati Cabaret at Ner Shalom with rhythm and blues at the “Dance for Justice” dance party on February 22, 2020 from 8 – 11PM at 85 LaPlaza, Cotati. Proceeds will support Ner Shalom and Sonoma County Secure Families, a collaborative effort to provide legal services to immigrant families in the North Bay.

In 2004 a group of progressive lawyers got together and formed an R&B band called DAWG-Definitely Aging With (or without) Grace. According to a spokesperson for the group, “We thought the civil rights community needed to just have fun-no speeches/no causes just Shut Up and Dance.”

In 2017, the group officially adopted the band name The Coolerators and performed in the spring of 2018 to bring a much needed relief to the Civil Rights community following the despair of the 2016 presidential election. The Coolerators gathered again in 2019 at another Shut Up and Dance party. This year they bring the party to Sonoma County to encourage all in attendance to dance the night away.

The Coolerators are among the who’s who of legal champions for civil rights and include: Eva Paterson, President of the Equal Justice Society on vocals; lawyer Elizabeth Cabraser on drums, Assemblyman David Chiu on violin; developer and former Presidio Trust president Paula Collins and employment lawyer Cheryl Stevens on vocals, mediator and labor arbitrator Bob Hirsch on guitar; Brad Seligman on guitar, harmonica and vocals; USF law professor Bill Hing on bass guitar and aret on keyboards and accordion.

Tickets are General Admission $20.00, VIP $50, and Booster $75. Tickets are available online at shalomevents.org. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

    Ner Shalom is scent-free.
