    Russian house #1 invites volunteers

Russian house #1 is an experimental restaurant without fixed menu or prices, an experience place, a place for cultural and spiritual events and a transformational community. We operate, paying for our rent in a beautiful location on Russian river and other expenses based on a free will of people for over 4 years now.
There are no employees here and no one receives salary. It is volunteer only.

We are interested in increasing our team and would like to invite more people in mindful activity. We want help in the kitchen with prepping or cooking in exchange for culinary classes. We can show how to do work as a spiritual practice.
We do some projects on site from time to time and can provide a place to stay, while helping.

And most of all we want people, interested in a spiritual development, willing to work on oneself and not just to talk about perfection. Those can apply with a three days test stay to get to know each other better.

If anything of above sounds interesting for you, please come 9960 HWY1, Jenner or call 707 865 9456 or 415 209 3171

Hmm -- a restaurant without a menu, prices, or employees. I'm guessing some random food walks in off the street and cooks and serves itself?

Sounds like a bunch of hogwash and a scam to get cheap labor. People trading labor for a bed, instead of a living wage. Allowing them to run a restaurant skirting laws like requirements to have food service handler certificates or paying employment taxes.

Which, after looking at their food service inspections, matches several reports of food kept/stored/served at improper temperatures and living quarters directly connected to the kitchen. Eww.

The folks at the Russian House are very innovative with their approach and it is a pleasure to stop by there and enjoy not only their wonderful food but their spectacular environment inside the restaurant and the views outside. I commend them on their generosity and business acuity. Yes, stop by and see for yourself what a gem they have created on the coast.

ChefJayTay, oh come on, tell us how you really feel...
Have you visited Russian House #1? Or are you just basing your judgemental negative attack on limited information? I am curious about your hostile angry reactionary diatribe, have you had failed culinary experience?? You have no idea. Talk about ewww. I thought you were a bigger more thoughtful person... often volunteers there have there own restaurants, or other culinary enterprises, and other volunteers work under direct supervision. Check it out with an open mind and an open heart...

Hi, Lilith ! The best time to come to talk is during the day on the week, when we have less people. But please let me know in advance [email protected], so I'm certainly there. Polina

Hi, ChefJayTay ! Welcome to visit , see it yourself and give your valuable suggestions for our operation. Seams like you have an experience in the industry. Nevertheless, we have a Green permit and our kitchen is much cleaner than it used to be with previous owners or some other places I've seen. It is simply because people CARE with love and attention, like in a good home. Standard procedures are there as well. Most of our volunteers have their own experience in restaurants and passed trainings.
We do not provide living on site. We rather invite for an experience, co-creativity and cooperation and want to extant this activity.
