Meet the Artists Reception: Emerging Pomo Artists Native Themes Art Exhibit
Steele Lane Community Center, 415 Steele Lane, Santa Rosa, 707-543-3282
Join the artists from the exhibit featuring emerging Pomo artists and contemporary Native themes , which runs Oct. 1- Nov. 13. Includes paintings, baskets, jewelry, dance regalia and photography. Handmade items available for purchase.
For 13,000 years, Pomo people have lived in Sonoma County. The site of their village, Batikletcawi (where elderberry grows), was on the bank of the Laguna de Santa Rosa, where Sebastopol now stands.
This is part of the 10th Pomo Honoring Month organized by local volunteers from the Pomo Project (www.pomoproject.org) to foster awareness of local indigenous Pomo history and traditions, support Pomo people having an active voice in contemporary challenges and value collaboration with all Pomo people toward reconciliation and understanding.
Exhibit continues October 1 – November 13, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
