Vinyasa Krama is the original yogasana that integrates pranayama into the asana practice. This PRANIC practice involves complete control of the breath throughout the practice. The movement (and mind) is always following the breath, there being a perfect synch between them with a pause or kumbhak after each inhalation and exhalation (for stillness and aligning the prana - which trains the heart and mind for stillness).

This subtle system is based on the movement of prana directed into the cartilage tissue, sinuous musculature of the body, internal organs and nadis. The practice begins with peace chants, followed by purification cleanses, SLOW vinyasa & particular fundamental Himalayan pranayama practices that nourish the vital organs, calm the central nervous system, and quiet the mind.

Kara with Srivatsa Ramaswami

Kara's teaching is based in Himalayan vinyasa kramas and winding down procedures of the Hansa Yoga Tradition taught by her Satguru His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda, a Himalayan Monk, Nath Yogi and Vedic/Sanskrit scholar and the 12 Kramas that Srivatsa Ramaswami learned from Sri T. Krishnamacharya for over 33 years - 10 Kramas (vinyasa sequences), Vishesha Kramas (sub routines), and winding down procedures (pranayama, pratyahara, meditation).
