Can E-books be read in any platform???

I'm thinking of buying a digital book but I want to know if I can read it in my laptop, desktop, or i-pad. Or do I need to buy a computer, the E-Book?

    Thanks!

It depends on the format of the e-book. Most can be read on just about any computer or iPad with Adobe Acrobat or a specific viewer software.

Here is a good summary of the formats and what readers and/or software they work with:

If you have a computer or iPad, you might consider checking it out from the library rather than buying... if the library has it available, of course.

I just saw this article - which gleaned information from several sources - about Disappearing E-books: https://gizadeathstar.com/2019/07/disappearing-ebooks/

Thank you everyone for your feedback.

That said, the backstory is that I ended up buying an online a textbook on economics, along with the password for a substantial amount of additional multimedia material, which supports the content covered in the text.

I ended up buying the textbook because McGraw-Hill does not offer an e-book package that includes the multi-media supplements. It ended up costing me almost $200, including taxes. The author has a well established reputation as a competent economist and this package will help me study the subject on my own. I will eventually take an econ course at SRJC to bolster my knowledge.

    Thanks again for the input!
