Which electric meter to request for PGE opt-out program?

a friend has a smart meter for gas and electric in sebastopol. He wants to opt-out and request an analog meter. I think I've read that sometimes they bring out a digital and say it's an analog, but still has wireless in it. What should he request to make sure it's just analog and no wireless?
    thanks

A Very good question, diaba! I would second the Question: Can anyone supply us with an answer to this? I need to know myself, because my old analog p.g.& e. meter has gone berserk. I mean bananas. My last bill (for one month) was $299.00.

You'll want the Motor/Disc Type of Meter.
They will know what you mean, though they may act as though they do not.

How do you know the Digital option still has the Wireless Module, assuming it is that Modular?
It's true it could have the Wireless Module within, but that it is disabled.
If they present you with that, you could ask them to connect it to their computer and to show you their "Configuration or Setup Screen" for your Meter, where you can see a box checked or an ON/OFF tag. and watch them click 'OFF' and 'Save'.
    Let us know what happens.

Re: Which electric meter to request for PGE opt-out program?

With the 'Old' Meters, for us they only actually read the meter every Other Month, and then estimate the off month based on last read month, which often results in 'whacky' bills, then credits and PITA situations.
    maybe your issue, maybe not.
BTW, the Old Motor/Disc Meters will one day wear out, but ours is 60 years old now and still ticking.
Side Note, In the old meters, the Disc Bearings or bushings gradually wear out, which causes drag on the disc, which is expressed as very slightly underreported usage, and for large loads, like Wood Shop, Big Pumps etc, the Old Meters don't accurately capture the energy surge or spike in motor startup, whereas a digital will capture every little peak use, so there's an advantage for Motor-Heads ;)
