Artist and ethnobotanist, Kathleen Harrison, will teach how to truly see a natural form, and then guide you in how to portray it realistically. We will work with refining perception and using simple tools, while creating a realistic graphite pencil portrait.

This is a very enjoyable meditation on form and beauty. You will never forget your plant once you've spent a few hours drawing it. We provide all art materials and a very nice ambience, with all the resources of the Ethnobotany Library at hand. You will take home a finished drawing, and will be given tips for adding color or ink later.

We highly recommend taking this class if you want to participate in our spring botanical illustration series taught by guest artist, Paetra Tauchert. Her classes are offered to those who have either already taken a beginner drawing class, or are accomplished in drawing what they see. (Visit spring-illustration-2019.bpt.me for details about this series.)
