This, from two of our local, tireless tribe, working on behalf of peace, now in D.C. to get to the politicos,
bless em all. We can support them by MAKING A COUPLE OF CALLS, info below. Jude
How will you celebrate the International Day of Peace (9/21)?
[email protected]
Whatever it is, share the peace.
First, we'll be going to meetings at the offices of California Members of Congress to talk with them about
peacebuilding measures, including the Department of Peacebuilding Act HR 1111 by Rep. Barbara Lee.
We'd love it if you would look at the flyer below and make a call or two to legislators, amplifying our voices about the need for peacebuiding.
Later we'll be taking part in the National Nonviolence Convergence sponsored by Pace e Bene.
You can go to their website
https://www.paceebene.org/programs/c...l-convergence/
to see the Saturday livestream of the march or to see some of the events happening around the nation and the world.
Also, on 9/21 Kids for Peace is launching #DoItForPeace, ia global experiment that will activate a critical mass of 1 billion people to shift global consciousness and make peace a reality.
Read about it at https://doitforpeace.org/ and sign up to be an igniter of peace.
Thanks for all you do to build peace in your heart and pass it on!

“Peace means preventing violence … like fighting, bullying, or calling each other names or anything that has to do with making people feel bad or scared."
“We would benefit from a dedicated department that spent its time developing and promoting peace instead of war.”
“I have never lived in a world where the US was not at war … "
“Our lives could be better if everyone related to each other in a nonviolent way because if you think about it, most problems start because of one person being angry at something or someone..."
The statements above are from high school students, deeply desiring a more peaceful world.
Today, you can make a difference!
We have grassroots lobbyists on the ground in Washington DC between now and September 26th, meeting with the offices of Congress. You can join in telling our legislators we want a culture of peace where every life is valued, establishing a Department of Peacebuilding and promoting the root conditions of peace. HR 1111 is sponsored by Rep. Barbara Lee (CA-13) and currently has 41 cosponsors. Let's build this number!
There are four easy actions you can take!
The more voices are heard by our Congressional offices during this short period of time, the better.
- Call the Congressional switchboard at 1-202-224-3121. Ask for your Member of Congress (if you're unsure, go to Congress.gov and look it up with your zip code). Speak to the Staff member who answers the phone, and tell them you support HR 1111 to establish a Department of Peacebuilding, and ask them to notify the Representative that, as a constituent, you want them to co-sponsor this important bill.
- Click here and generate an email to your Member of Congress and both of your Senators, asking that they support HR 1111 to create a Department of Peacebuilding.
- Amplify the DC Advocacy effort by calling crucial Members of Congress between now and September 26, asking each to cosponsor the legislation. Each call only takes a few moments. For details on who to call and what to say, see the Amplify flyer.
- Help us by making a special donation to support our Advocacy efforts in Washington DC.
One Member of Congress in Washington State once said that if only 13 people contacted her office about an issue, she would re-open it for consideration.Only 13.Be a part of the 13 for your district, and for the crucial districts where we might have the most impact on the Amplify flyer.
If not you, who? If not now, when?
You are the one. Now is time. Peace is a right.
Building peace together,
