The Soil Not Oil movement promotes soil restoration and carbon sequestration. This is KEY to REVERSING climate change! Carbon farming can pull carbon out of the atmosphere. Additionally, carbon farming also improves water retention in the soil, so it's a huge benefit to farmers in drought-filled California. Both farmers and the general public need to be educated about regenerative agriculture, and ways to support farmers transitioning to carbon farming to reverse climate change.
"Little known climate change fact: Just the first meter of soil contains as much carbon as the entire atmosphere. And there’s potential to soak up much more." (quote from Fast Company)
This year the Soil Not Oil Conference will focus on community-powered methods to drawdown carbon levels in the atmosphere and recognize the problems associated to inequity and lack of education in all levels. It will feature creative solutions from leaders in the global south to adapt and prevent the ecological and social impacts of climate change.

Soil Not Oil values inclusivity and equity. To ensure that EVERYONE can attend the conference, all tickets are on a sliding scale. We are offering lower prices for low income attendees and single parents as well as scholarships, and we are offering regular prices for those with means, as a democratic way to both cover the cost of the conference while also affirming our commitment to volunteers and the marginalized members of our communities.
