Vote in the KPFA Local Station Board Election

    KPFA ELECTION UPDATE

Ballots have been mailed to all members of KPFA. The ballot will come in a yellow envelope (as shown in the photo above). If you have not yet received your ballot, and think you are an eligible voting member, please contact Local Election Supervisor for KPFA, Earl Johnson, at [email protected]. Include your eligibility information (proof of membership or volunteer hours) along with your name, email address, phone number, and a mailing address if you need to request a ballot.

It's important to VOTE to ensure that quorum is reached for the election. The election results count only if quorum is reached.

Pacifica and KPFA are in severe financial difficulty, and are expending precious resources to hold this election. Please make sure that the vote counts, that quorum is reached, and that the money isn't wasted. VOTE by mailing or emailing in your ballot!

The voting is by Single Transferrable Vote (STV). This means you must RANK each candidate. Of course, you may rank the candidates anyway you see fit, because United for Community Radio is running 8 great candidates. UCR ranks our candidates in the following order:

    1. T.M Scruggs
    2. Ramses Teon Nicols
    3. Carol Wolfley
    4. Aki Tanaka
    5. Marilla Arguelles
    6. La Tasha Warmsley
    7. Kris Stewart
    8. Tom Voorhees

Vote for your top UCR candidate by marking the box in the first column under the number 1. Then vote for your other candidates by marking boxes under columns 2 through 8. (See example in the attached photo.) Candidates marked as number 1 have the most weigh due to the STV.

If you'd like more information about the UCR candidates, check out our website.

Please note that Pacifica is NOT mailing out candidate statements to save trees and to save $$$. You can read the official candidate statements here.

KPFA will have on-air candidate forums Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday next week -- September 6, 7, and 8 at 7 pm. You can call in with questions for UCR candidates and for the "S"K** candidates.

The DEADLINE to vote is September 30, 2016.

--Mail your ballot before September 23, 2016 to ensure it is received in time.
    OR
--Vote online no later that September 30, 2016.

**UCR is using "S"K for the so-called Save KPFA slate, because "S"K co-opted the name "Save KPFA" that was used by members of UCR and others during the 1999 march to protect KPFA/Pacifica. For a short history on how "Concerned Listeners" became "S"K, please see here.
