Help us tell our story! We are looking for up to 2 volunteers interested in historical research to aid in the development of an exhibit about the Founders of the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation.

Founding members, Robert Sharp and Richard Nichols, created an archive of newspaper articles and meeting minutes that document the activism in 70’s and 80’s to preserve the Laguna wetlands as well as the founding of the Laguna Foundation in 1989. This treasure trove has been meticulously cared for, and thoroughly cataloged, but now we need help synthesizing the materials into one presentation (or possibly multiple presentations) that will be exhibited in Great Blue Heron Hall at the Laguna Environmental Center. The presentation will also be shared with the public through the Laguna Foundation’s website, Facebook account and You Tube channel.

Volunteer(s) will review the archival materials (~300 newspaper articles and supporting documents dated from 1975-2002) and synthesize the highlights into a PowerPoint presentation. The volunteer(s) will also assist with archive management, helping to scan articles and upload them to the Laguna Watershed Knowledgebase. Volunteer(s) will use a controlled vocabulary of keywords so these documents are searchable. These supporting documents will be referenced in the presentation so it’s key to have them accessible to the public for further reference.
