From TruthAboutPetFood.com:
"Few people are aware to what is allowed to be fed to livestock animals. One ingredient that is AAFCO defined and FDA approved to be fed to cattle is chicken poop.
It’s termed by AAFCO as Dried Poultry Litter, defined as “a processed animal waste product composed of a processed combination of feces from commercial poultry together with litter that was present in the floor production of poultry…”
The University of Missouri states: “The large quantities of litter produced during modern poultry production are expensive to dispose of safely; moreover, protein is typically the most expensive ingredient in ruminant diets. Feeding poultry litter is a means of disposing of a waste product while concurrently supplying a low-cost protein feed to beef cattle.”
Animals have become the living landfills for waste that is “expensive to dispose of safely”.
Consumers are NOT informed if their hamburger or roast came from chicken poop fed cattle."
