I have a Respond laser which I use on myself and clients. I have had terrific results for pain and healing of injuries. I don't know much about the quantum laser. I know some of the home use lasers are only 5 watts. Mine is 50 watts. Some of the high powered veterinary lasers are 500 watts. I think the power would make a big difference on whether you see/feel results.

thanks - Respond looks interesting, hadn't heard of it. … and animals are less prone to placebo effect.
yes, 50 watts is order of magnitude over 5, so that makes sense.
some distinguish between wave length: amber, red, violet. know about that?

The diodes on the site you reference are stated as being 100 mW and priced at $1100. 100 mW = 1/10 watt. I think they want another $3100 for the "controller" which has an impressive number of buttons so might be worth it for what internally is effectively a battery and an on/off switch. For that much though, I think it should run Android, then they could call it a SmartLaser.

I bet if you yanked one of their diode housings apart you'd find they are really just class 1 laser diodes in the <5mW range. (They make all kinds of other suspect claims, why not overstate the power output too?)

Anyway, you can get 200-300 mW laser diodes on eBay for $10-20, be aware they are making a pretty hefty profit. Lasers are dangerous at those power levels. Serious eye damage. Do be careful. Be prepared to blink.

You can engrave and cut paper starting around 300 mW. People yank the violet diodes out of old DVD burners and use them to build nifty little engravers / cutters. Wear eye protection please.

Your 50 watt laser is probably 50 milliwatt, otherwise when you shined it on your "patients" limbs you'd probably cut parts of them off.

But isn't it an amazing time we live in, we can buy purple lasers for $15??? So cool.
