Sentiment Building to Deport Nation's Billionaires

    from borowitzreport.com:

THE HAMPTONS (The Borowitz Report)—They don’t pay taxes. They circumvent our laws. They get free stuff from the government. They are America’s billionaires, and many would like to see them gone.
According to a new survey by the University of Minnesota’s Opinion Research Institute, the American people hold the nation’s billionaires in lower esteem than ever before, and a majority would like to see new laws enacted to deport them.
“They come here, take thousands of our jobs, and export them overseas,” one respondent said, in an opinion echoed by many others in the survey.
“They are part of a shadow economy that sucks billions of dollars out of the United States every year and puts it in Switzerland and the Caymans,” another said.
Images of hedge-fund managers arriving via helicopter in the Hamptons this summer have only reinforced the impression that authorities have turned a blind eye to their movements.
“Many of these people should be in prison, and the government is looking the other way,” one respondent said.
Stirring even more controversy is the billionaires’ practice of having babies in the United States and using the nation’s porous estate-tax laws to pass down untold wealth to the next generation.
“They should leave and take their children with them,” one respondent said.
Even after it is pointed out to respondents that some billionaires, such as Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, have made significant philanthropic contributions to the world, a majority of those polled stubbornly maintained their negative views of billionaires.
“Look, in every group you’re going to have some good ones,” one of the respondents said. “But that doesn’t take away from the fact that the vast majority of these people are destroying this country.”

On the road to getting rid of money ... wouldn't it be wonderful to a have a cap on wealth; say a few million $ and that's it. More money comes to you it goes to people who need it. I know, dream on, but it's said that an idea whose time has come cannot be stopped.

Wow...so first off this statement is a moronic idea and then the fact that you are quoting a site that states it is for satiriquel purposes only is pretty interesting.
Richest 1,409 taxpayers pay more income tax than bottom 70Mln-fact !
If you wish to live in a poor country please do us all a favor and you leave this country.
And then the other moron saying we should cap income and then steel the rest....sound like a real Marxist in making. Communism and socialism are ideals that have failed over and over and have led to the death of countless millions.
Please do everyone a favor and go live in a country that has socialism.

LOL. Proof that the dumbing down of America, at least, is alive and well.

    several responses:
    - you don't get satire, then? Know who Swift was and why he wrote? The satire is in the framing - the statements are true enough. I can explain in more detail if you need it.
    - There are a lot more than 70 million impoverished people, so your number, being so oddly specific, looks pretty cherry-picked to make a point. The 1409 taxpayers who pay that probably have a whole lot more wealth than the 70M. There's some fun facts on income disparity on the web if you like that sort of game.
    - yelling "Marxism" and "Socialism" doesn't have the impact it did in the good old days, back when America was Great. Kids these days don't see the charms of capitalism quite as clearly as you seem to.
and, as for living in a county that has socialism, you may find that your fate soon too, if we're all lucky!
