    Winter gear needed

The Task Force for the Homeless will be distributing heavy and lightweight jackets, outdoor vests, sweaters, sweatshirts, hats, scarves, new socks & underwear, sleeping bags, backpacks, tents & blankets (when available) to agencies that serve homeless men, women & children on Thursday Nov 6th between 12:30 & 2 pm. Thanks to our partnership with the County of Sonoma Department of Health, our distribution site is located at 3324 Chanate Road, in Santa Rosa (see directions below). from Sebastopol

Winter Warmth items are intended for distribution to homeless people first, for those living unsheltered and secondly, those who must spend the bulk of the day out in the weather. Agencies serving homeless people countywide are welcome to pick up these free “Winter Warmth” items to distribute or use in your shelter, housing, outreach, recovery or social service program. We are planning two distributions per month until the cold weather ends and/or the need subsides. Please come and get any items your homeless clients may need to make it through these cold damp nights.

Our Winter Warmth program can only distribute items through homeless service agencies. We cannot serve individuals directly. The Task Force will include food pantries & hot meal sites as distribution points. These programs may request items for the homeless people they serve.

We open 12:30 and close at 2 pm. We’re happy to help you find, select and log out items. If you need assistance, we can also help you get your items to your vehicle. Please bring bags or boxes for your items.

Directions to the Distribution Site at 3324 Chanate Road. At the stoplight at the intersection of Chanate Road and Sutter Medical Center, turn into the campus of County buildings on the opposite side of the street from Sutter Hospital. Then take the first driveway on your right and turn into the next right hand driveway immediately after the first one. Follow that road as it curves downward and bears left. That driveway leads you to the bottom of the parking lot and in front of several buildings that appear on your right. The last building will be 3324 (indicated on a small sign near the entrance to the Fiscal Department) but the letters on the awning over the door where we are located are “D&E”. There will be a Winter Warmth sign on that double glass door. Follow the sign inside the entrance to the Winter Warmth distribution room.

2014 Winter Warmth Distribution Schedule: Nov 20th, Dec 4th, and Dec 18th (Thursdays, 12:30-2 pm)

    Re: Winter gear needed

I don't see any information regarding how one could donate to this project. I have items to donate, but in addition to having some serious health issues, we are in the midst of a move. If there is someone else who would also like to donate and could pick up some items from me in Cotati (within the next several days) or Rohnert Park thereafter, I'd love to donate. Judy
