Sebastopol will be literally driving into the future with the 2 trucks which are in the current budget - budgeted but not yet bought.
Thing is, the ones being planned to be bought are the same kind since trucks were first invented, and run on gasoline.
What?
This is 2014 and it is high time for our government to be spending our money on GREEN everything - vehicles, energy, planting, housing, etc. There's every reason we ought to buy green - electric vehicles.
These trucks serve Sebastopol, so they travel a few miles max - easily within electric vehicles' range.
Mostly there are few things in the back - perfect for a smaller format - a utility vehicle.
AND there happens to be a (micro) electrical utility vehicle manufacturer right IN Sebastopol - aptly called SWITCH. How about local spending with our small businesses??
Buying at least 1 of those vehicles (instead of a gasoline truck!?!) from these locals would keep money in the community, provide clean transportation, and offer the progressive reality and role modeling we all want our town to have and show.
(This utility vehicle also costs less than the trucks that have been planned. Hmmm… who are they being bought from, and why? Anyone know?)
Let's let the City Council know - public comments always at the beginning of each meeting,
and the next one is Tuesday, November 13th, 7pm at the Youth Annex of the Community Center.

P.S. Jonathan is the only candidate to have taken a stand on this, in favor of… GREEN, yes, ELECTRIC. YAAY.
