Emergency and Urgent: Goat Rescue of Sonoma County Needs Temporary Home for Pet Goats

We are Goat Rescue of Sonoma County where goats are pets NOT dinner: We are a local nonprofit pet rescue. We have recently lost our pasture space due to bad things that happened to the manager of the vineyard estate upon which they currently reside. Because the manager now has to leave the large estate, we now have to move all of our goats. We have a total of less than 50 goats and could use 5-10 acres that is well fenced, preferably in Sonoma county so we can easily visit, adopt out, feed and keep an eye on these kids. Most ideal would be Windsor or Sebastopol but anywhere in the NorthBay Counties will be fine.

If you need a goat, we have about 20 goats available for adoption and not to be eaten. The adoption "fee" is 7 bales of alfalfa or the equivalent credit on our accounts at either Larsen's Feed and Pet Supply that may be reached at 707-795-4106 or the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Large Animal Teaching Hospital that may be reached at 530-752-0290. Both of these establishments can take donations by credit card over the telephone.
If you can help with this, please contact:

you could try calling IONS (the Institute of Noetic Sciences) in Petaluma. They have about 50 beautiful hilly acres of land and many goats and sheep that are kept there and cared for to keep the grasses down.

Re: Emergency and Urgent: Goat Rescue of Sonoma County Needs Temporary Home for Pet Goats

    June 11, 2014

We are still looking for pasture in the NorthBay counties--hopefully in Sonoma County and most hopefully, in or near Windsor. We have tried IONS (Institute Of Noetic Sciences) and they really tried to help, however feel that taking on 50 goats, even with our help, may be more time consuming and require more attention than they can devote. They are also looking around for us. My hat's off to Trecey and Jake who are the food services manager and groundskeeper of the 196 acre retreat center. These people have more to do in a day than 2-3 other people I have known have to do, or can do, in a week!!

If anyone can help us with our extended family of approximately 50 pet goats and foster home Goat Rescue of Sonoma County for a period of time until we are again able to buy our own place (which should be within the year), this would help us and our forlorn and homeless pet goats immensely. We hope to be receiving a not-so-forthcoming-inheritance in the next year. Likewise, we have about 20 pet goats available for adoption and we trade our adoptees for 7 bales of alfalfa if you need a goat or two. If you have, or know of anyone who has, some pastureland that is fenced and cross fenced of 5-10 acres and might be able to foster home our Goat Rescue of Sonoma County, PLEASE Contact:

Ken 707-779-9856 or 707-779-9857 on cell phones
or at our home at 707-836-4219

ADDITIONALLY FYI: We voluntarily maintain ourselves available for any goat owner and will provide help, advice or emergency services for illnesses, injuries and birthing problems like breech births (if you are local) and are always available by telephone. If you are a goat owner, please keep our phone numbers and don't be afraid to call in the middle of the night if you have a problem. We have learned a lot in the last 7 years of owning a goat rescue and we can be a valuable resource for you. We do keep approximately $1,000.00 of medications on hand at all times for treatment of illnesses, injuries and birthing help for our local county goat owners. We can always use donations to our feed account at Larsen's Feed and Pet Supply in Cotati, 707-795-4106 or our veterinary accounts at UC Davis Large Animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital, 530-752-0290 and Cotati Large Anima Hospital at 707-795-4356. If we come to your place to help, we won't refuse a contribution for gasoline or medication!

Re: Emergency and Urgent: Goat Rescue of Sonoma County Needs Temporary Home for Pet Goats

UPDATE ON GOAT RESCUE OF SONOMA COUNTY'S PASTURELAND NEED:

We were unable to locate local pasture by our deadline to move the goats so we have made a deal with a goat grazing company in the South Bay which uses them for grazing tasks and cares for goats. They have agreed to provide them with supplemental nutritional feed as well as utilize their mouth chewing expertise on their jobs. Thus about 30 or more have gone and are going tomorrow (June 26, 2014) to Morgan Hill. Although we would have liked to keep them closer to us for adoption purposes, however, we believe that they are very likely in the safest position possible until we can find a new home and no longer have to rely on others for foster homing or temporary housing of our kids.

If you think that you would like to contribute the the nonprofit, Goat Rescue of Sonoma County, you can always help us with our feed bill that has started climbing to above $1200. We still have about 12 of the kids left with us in Napa that require about 1 bale/per day in vittles.

Our feed account is at Larsen's Feed and Pet Supply in Cotati and they are willing to accept credit/debit card payments over the telephone. Their number is 707-795-4106.

Likewise we are still paying on and have a $500.00 balance left on our surgery account for neutering at UC Davis Large Animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital that can be reached by dialing 530-752-0290. They too will accept donations by card over the telephone.

Thanks to all of you prolifically, who have been following our plight, from us!

MORE RECENT UPDATE ON GOAT RESCUE OF SONOMA COUNTY'S PASTURELAND NEED:

    6-28-2014
We now have placed all but 12 goats in a temporary foster home where they will be well treated and cared for. We have 12 goats left that are available to foster home. We could use as little as 1.5 acres of well fenced pasture most preferably in the Sonoma County area where we can feed them and watch over them. If this sounds like a reasonable number to you, you have the room and would like to have 12 pet goats on your property, please call us at:

Re: Emergency and Urgent: Goat Rescue of Sonoma County Needs Temporary Home for Pet Goats

TODAY 7-11 IS THE LUCKIEST DAY OF THE YEAR!
UPDATE ON GOAT RESCUE'S PROGRESS FINDING A FOSTER HOME FOR 11 GOATS IN SONOMA COUNTY

So far we have managed to foster home almost all 50 of the herd with the exception of the last 11 goats. These are friendly, pet goats, all of which are on the smallish side being a small part Alpine with Pygmy and Nigerian Dwarf mixed in.

These are small goats which have great, animated personalities and are people friendly. If you know of a place we can use to home these Goats Eleven or you would not mind keeping them for a while, please contact:
