ISO Waldorf teacher to contribute to children's mindfulness program

Om School Learning offers contemplative community programs to children and families in the Sonoma County.

We are in search of an experienced or retired Waldorf teacher to join the roster of guest teachers visiting our cooperative program for the 2014-2015 school year. Our hope is that this kind and caring person will offer their warm presence to the children up to four times per year with songs, stories, and handwork.

We hope this loving teacher will also be available (at a reasonable rate) to offer guidance (quarterly or as needed) to our many Waldorf homeschooling families -- to help us deepen our understanding of Steiner curriculum and developmental theory.

Om School Mindfulness Cooperative:

Through storytelling, games, songs, and other kid-friendly, contemplative practices, children cultivate mindfulness and nourish one another with trusting friendships. Materials utilized in this program include the Mindful Schools research-based curriculum and practices developed by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village community.

Children share quiet space in the geodesic dome, enjoy handwork with natural materials, work on projects in the outdoor kitchen, celebrate seasonal festivals, sing by the fire pit, enjoy the chickens and goats, and discover healing qualities of the medicinal plants growing on the six-acre biodynamic farm. We’ll enjoy being held by the land and cultivate a view of nature as an interconnected whole.
