Wanting to Create a Sebastopol-based Chess Meet-Up Group

Hello. If you're a chess player, perhaps you know how difficult it can be to find other chess enthusiasts... While there are chess meet-ups in Santa Rosa and other neighboring towns, there are none in Sebastopol (that I know of). I don't get into Santa Rosa much, and I would love for there to be a local group here in Sebastopol. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please contact me and let's discuss how to move forward.

I am thinking of two options right now: (1) Create an email list-serve where someone can email the group and propose a time to meet for a game (or two or three...) or (2) Create a regular time, perhaps one or two days a week, where anyone could show up to play. The problem I see with the latter option is that one person may show up and be the only one there. So, perhaps starting off with an email list serve would work better, at least in the beginning. Feel free to respond to this post or to email me personally: [email protected]

    Thanks, Jeff

    Interesting.
    I feel the same way.

I've always thought, "When I'm retired and old, I should start a chess club again."
Of course I've been retired for over a decade and am way beyond being officially old.
I ran a chess club in S.F., years ago.
I'm also in the West county, but I'd probably pick Forestville.
    Keep me on your list.
