    Temporary warming stations

"...we will be running warming stations the next couple of nights for the homeless out on the streets. We are very worried about the temperature drop, so we will be opening Homeless Services Center during the night and will have heating areas set up around the building as well. If you could help spread the word either in your meetings or via email list serves that if someone needs to get warm they can come to 600 Morgan Street, and be served between 10pm and 6am. Our regular hours begin at 6am. We also will have warm oatmeal, hot drinks, and other warm items handed out as people come through the Center.
We also will be in need of people willing to volunteer to help oversee the warming stations, as well as warm items (gloves, socks, jackets, sleeping bags, etc.) to continue to hand out to those who are in need. If you know someone who would like to volunteer and/or donate please contact me at [email protected]; 707-542-5426 ext. 210."

There's nothing here but I bet there could be if enough people suffering hypothermia dropped into the Emergency room at Palm Drive!

Forwarding an update on Catholic Charities' warming stations in Santa Rosa:

    Hello all,

First and foremost I would like to say thank you for helping to spread the word last week about the warming stations. The outpouring of generosity from the community has been above amazing and these warming stations would not be possible without this help.

Due to the weather forecast we are going to extend the warming stations at Homeless Services Center (600 Morgan Street) through Wednesday morning. We would like your help spreading the word again through meetings and/or email lists about this service to the community.

The warming stations/center have definitely evolved since the first night. We have opened a warming center through the night, have warming stations set up outside, have canopies for people to get out of the elements, and we have resources brought to us through the Red Cross.

We also have been blessed that a church has come forward to let a limited number of people stay inside. For anyone who would like to access one of those spots, they need to come to 600 Morgan Street to be triaged to the church. We have transportation from Morgan Street to the church.

If anyone would like to donate warm items and/or volunteer to help run these warming stations/center please feel free to contact me at [email protected]; 707-542-5426 ext. 210.

Please help us spread the word.

    Thanks!
