  1. Point Reyes future

Just finished reading Peter Byrne's article on the future of Point Reyes in the current (12/9-15) Bohemian newspaper and I highly recommend it. Byrne should get an award for his muckraking research...
  2. JC Penney as Thrift store

A few days ago while shopping at Penney's I found a nice pair of shoes at a pretty good price and purchased them. As I got them out into the sunlight I saw that these leather shoes had scuff marks...
  3. Oil change coupon

  4. Re: Homeless Emergency on Joe Rodota Trail

OK, guy, how about YOU make a space for at lest one person where YOU live?
  5. Re: Homeless Emergency on Joe Rodota Trail

The JRT Community Meeting will probably be still another do-nothing bureaucracy that sucks up time and money. How about using county land and buildings up at Chanate for "relocation". Many of the...
  6. Re: Homeless encampments along the Joe Rodota Trail

Well, what about the rich who steal the bread from the poor?
  7. Re: Homeless encampments along the Joe Rodota Trail

Keep in mind that this is in part, a seasonal development. As a long time volunteer at the Morgan Street homeless services center, year after year we saw a doubling of need for people to receive...
  8. Re: Health district sells hospital

I don't care WHAT happens to that damn hospital as long as they stop taxing US for it. Both property tax and sales tax.
  9. Re: DMV renewal scam

I'm not sure it's actually a scam. There are storefronts with people who do DMV work for folk who do not want to wait in line at the state offices of DMV. I have paid $35 and my friend pays $50 for...
  10. Re: Help--BIG poison oak

What I have done with the big ones is wait till winter when it is only a vine no leaves, then hack it off below ground level at the base with an axe. When shoots reemerge in the spring chop them out...
  11. Re: What do you believe about the "homeless" population in general? A social worker's com

Very individual issues, countless issues which can become very complex problems. One benefit (provided you survive) Is a strengthening of said individual. Provided she survives.
  12. Re: What do you believe about the "homeless" population in general? A social worker's com

One thing I would also add are that these "shelters" while a welcome relief from the elements and provide a warm dinner; are also places where predators and the shrewd street wise folk who choose it...
  13. Re: Glyphosate or Round Up use locally

One thing we can do is publicize and boycott businesses that sell it to the public. I was in Sebastopol hardware today and Rooundup was prominently displayed on the shelves of the garden section. We...
  14. Re: Poem for the day from Larry Robinson

Sometimes a poem is a dirge.
  15. Class Re: Free Workshop for Adults 60+ Covers Affordable Housing Application Tools

Oops, Rossmen; sounds like you drank the Kool aid. I have been working with the 'homeless' situation going to endless planning meetings, etc. At a 'Homeless Summit" some three years ago, projections...
  16. Re: Update Re: Proposed 16-pump gas station at 116/Stony Point

I don't know about the blue pill, (I thought that was a 'guy' thing). However, isn't self-righteousness one a god given right of Sebastopuddlers?
  17. Re: City worker destroys beloved swallow colony

Let's crucify him. Tomorrow, after the farmer's market in the town square.
  18. Re: The Barlow FAILED to protect it's tennants during flood.

The solution, Don't build on a flood plain!! The main "defect' was building there.
  19. Re: Where on the political spectrum are you?

See that oval in the middle? That's where we are pouring our money.
  20. Re: Huge industrial cannabis proposal near Graton

To the question asking an update on the Graton cannabis proposal; I just read in the Sonoma County Gazette that the public trail has been rezoned Linear Park and that the persons proposing...
  21. Re: Huge industrial cannabis proposal near Graton

Today's New York Times has an editorial by Alex Berenson with the caption "Don't ignore the Risks of Pot". ('What advocates of legalizing marijuana don't want you to know') This article sheds light...
  22. Re: Huge industrial cannabis proposal near Graton

My experience of "the product" relates back to the late '60s and '70s when Thai sticks and Panama Red were the 'bees knees' and pot was what we smoked. What was demeaning was when I was convicted of...
  23. Re: Huge industrial cannabis proposal near Graton

    Who is 'everybody'?

Better planning than you have taken in consulting the neighborhood where you propose your project
  24. Re: Huge industrial cannabis proposal near Graton

None of the proponents of this project has addressed the possibility of crimes committed in and against the mary jane industry. How many people need to be killed or ripped off to know that CAREFUL...
  25. Re: Huge industrial cannabis proposal near Graton

These trails are already maintained by Sonoma County Parks, from a government perspective. Probably state and fed funds would only be involved if grants were involved.
  26. Re: Huge industrial cannabis proposal near Graton

My concern is not the structures as ling as there is a proper setback; I'm worried about the large trucks accessing that property by a narrow road adjoining the bike path.
  27. Re: Huge industrial cannabis proposal near Graton

I think you need to roll another one and breathe deep.
  28. Re: Vote Yes on Measure M for our parks

I am not against parks, I often visit them. I am especially fond of the Kortum trail (minus the dog poop) and Goat Rock. However, I feel that park money is not handled well. Trained Rangers do litter...
  29. Re: YES on M--parks for all

I do not support this measure. And I am NOT against parks. We pay so many taxes in so many ways that this is just an end run to use our 'other' taxes for things like retirement programs for county...
  30. Re: Huge industrial cannabis proposal near Graton

I can't even see what the boundaries are but I think the creeks should be protected from this proposal. Also the trails need a proper setback.
  31. Re: Women's Rights & Protesting

We need to be careful of making universal statements. If you go 100 miles south you will find A LOT of Republicans. If you go to the mid-west you will find even more - and when I return to my family...
  32. Re: Your opportunity to input on County policies for composting toilets - online or in per

I could be wrong but I believe Sonoma County has at least two of THEIR OWN composting toilets, one at Bodega Head and one at the foot of the Head at Campbell Cove. They are quite deep, and seem to be...
  33. Re: Marines training on Taylor Mountain Open Space

So you only want to see them when there is an emergency or you are in distress? Marines are also civilians.
  34. Re: Sonoma County supervisor Lynda Hopkins announces pregnancy

My reply to this, as it is to the abortion issue, IS: Get your politics our of my uterus.
  35. Re: Nixel Alert Bear Sighting Sebastopol! Worried for my dogs!

Above all, DON'T PANIC! That bear does not want to be seen. BTW send it waaay out Green Valley Road, I am ready to be eaten by a bear.
  36. Re: Poem for the day from Larry Robinson

The sad word here is 'thrown'.
  37. Re: Best in Political Humor - April 2018

"Please Mr. Custer, please don't make me go."
  38. Re: Poem for the day from Larry Robinson

Nice visuals Larry, and once again I am sent to consult my dictionary.
  39. Re: Musk's revolutionary enterprises impact us all

What he lacks though is providing the leadership against sexual harassment against women.
  40. Poll: Re: City Proposes Pine Grove Square development to replace parking lot by Hopmonk

I love the idea of this project. Perhaps they could be "walk up" apartments for the un-autoed among us. In the heart of town - new vitality to an already friendly place. Of course there would need to...
  41. Re: Homelessness after the fires

Homelessness is a very complex problem. There are no simple answers. Whose fault is it, what are the solutions....As Jesus reportedly said some years ago "the poor you will always have with you"....
  42. Re: Homelessness after the fires

Officials are NOT going to really address the problems of homelessness. People who were burned out were sent to Catholic Charities and were immediately spirited away for immediate assistance and...
  43. Re: Poem for the day from Larry Robinson

HOW TO GO TO THE WOODS

Ordinarily I go to the woods alone, with not a single friend,
for they are all smilers and talkers and therefore unsuitable

I don't really want to be witnessed talking...
  44. Re: Candidates for Change on RR Chamber Board

I surely would not vote for you, were I a Gville voter. Why is it these days that everything gets blamed on "the homeless"? I think that stance is having a negative effect on business in west county....
  45. Re: "Let's Talk Tourism" in Sonoma County

Did anyone else hear or read the news story that Sonoma County is the preferred tourist destination second only to the Tuscan region of Italy, worldwide. Brace yourselves. As to hammering roads,...
  46. Re: Poem for the day from Larry Robinson

I'm not sure it is silent. Many are still haunted by those experiences. Who can measure the damage done to so many? My nephew, working in underwater demolitions was personally traumatized...
  47. Re: Poem for the day from Larry Robinson

    Beautiful images. Thank you!
  48. Poll: Re: City Proposes Pine Grove Square development to replace parking lot by Hopmonk

Even though I occasionally park there, I like the idea, especially the 'mixed use' part. Just so long as the storefronts aren't shuttered for habitation which seems to be the case on the west...
