Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Currency Wars?
It was suggested that I combine all of my "National and International Politics" posts into one thread for ease of access and continuity ... great idea Barry!
I became involved with human rights issues when my own human rights were violated ... I won't go into the details of this because I've explained it all before, but I will say that the violations have been significant and that I am not alone ... unfortunately, there are thousands of others reporting the same Cointelpro-style abuses ...
I look around me and I see a world of concerned citizens struggling to maintain individual liberties ... I see our constitution being compromised and I see a police state forming ... I see journalists attacked and silenced and activists struggling ... I'm being told that all of our media is owned by six corporations and that our country is now ruled by corporations .... this is not a world that most people would thrive in ...
In my recent book I explore the worst of these abuses and I wish to touch upon that subject in this first posting .... I wish to share my information about non-lethal weaponry and the role that it plays in our modern world ...
Very few people understand the extent of our technological advancements in the world of weaponry ... fewer people understand that many of these weapons have now been given to our police departments ... this article does a good job of explaining this ...
https://www.alternet.org/civil-liber...unarmed-people
yes, you might be thinking, but that's alternative news, how can we trust it?
well, here's an amazing collection of mainstream news articles about modern weaponry which should be a real eye opener ....
https://www.wanttoknow.info/nonletha...nsnewsarticles
and here's a young lady absolutely freaking out about all of this ...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=381&v=eLHiFLJYI0w
Now, I'm not assuming that these weapons will be used on the general public, but I do know for a fact that they are now being tested on citizens around the world ...
Feel free to add your own articles about possible human rights violations ....

"We are a scant 40 years away from the futuristic world that science fiction author Philip K. Dick envisioned for Minority Report in which the government is all-seeing, all-knowing and all-powerful, and if you dare to step out of line, dark-clad police SWAT teams will crack a few skulls to bring the populace under control.

Re: The plan to burn up northern california
Some background information about the speakers in this interview from my personal experience ...
When I first met Deborah Tavares she suggested that I do a radio interview with Jeff Rense because I had a lot of knowledge which should be shared ... I agreed to this ... she then called back to cancel that interview because she needed to take a break from her radio interviews ( unlike her ) ... days later Jeff was in a very bad accident which almost killed him ...
https://www.remnantsandluminaries.co...-duff-loses-it
He stated that he was suddenly rendered unconscious while driving his vehicle at high speed ... if you remember my radio interview, I had a similar experience ....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHeoR3E7-5E
Deborah is a very strong person and urged me to speak before the Sebastopol City Council about covert attacks occurring with "non-lethal" weaponry ... I refused to do so without the support of professionals who could back up my information ... undaunted Deborah spoke twice to Sebastopol City Council about this subject, reading the letter from Richmond City Council member Javanka Beckles which urges city officials to take this threat seriously.
I spoke to Deborah twice after this. During the first conversation she informed me that she was the victim of a bogus lawsuit claiming discrimination. During the second conversation she told me that she was being targeted in ways that were so disgusting that she could not even describe it. She also said that we needed to stick together. That was the last time that I talked to her. I can no longer reach her by telephone.
The single voices for truth through research are being silenced ... we all need to stand up to stop this ... the stakes are very high ... once again, read my book ....

Re: The plan to burn up northern california
As dedicatedly supportive of truth as I am, I've long considered Rense and ALL his guests to be part of the controlled opposition - and they don't have to be lying to be the controlled opposition, the converse is true. It's neurolinguisticism - saying what you're against over and over with a condescending air and high repetition of specific phrases is a very effective method of spreading/implanting 'awareness', 'dread', 'fear of' and expectation of hopeless inevitability of the things supposedly being 'exposed'. It's the perfect way to prime people of exactly what the worst to expect is, exactly why and implant that they can't do anything about it, fostering the kind of fear that doesn't retaliate.
The red flags around Rense are bountiful and without any exceptions over his whole career.
Rense NEVER has any guests that EVER offer hope or plan for retaliation. Every interview is whine, whine, whine and saying the words Rothschild and Zionist a gazillion times with the most condescending, hopeless air.
He NEVER takes any calls. He is a closed, controlled system with no chance of being called on anything.
He NEVER appears in public.
He NEVER gives any interviews himself like many other interviewers.
He NEVER updates his stupid picture from the 70's or something.
His guest list of the same people over and over is a very short list of nearly only Jews all with the same whining delivery agenda saying Rothschild and Zionist ad nauseum.
He NEVER has ANY of the other frequent interviewees on the alternative talk circuit as guests.
He's a shill. Here's a clip from one of many sites saying these same things for many years:

-
Re: The plan to burn up northern california
Interesting that Amy Goodman is on this list ... do you really think that she's a shill?
You have to be careful Alex, now the strategy for discrediting true activists is to call them a shill ...
I often refer to Rense.com and I have found his publications to be factual, or at least the pages which deal with the subject matter that I'm researching ... a lot of what he covers does not interest me and so I can not comment on it ... here's an example, pure fact I'm afraid ...
https://www.rense.com/general74/mindcontrol.htm
... also, his accident was a bit suspicious to say the least, and not something that most shills would be subjected to ...

I don't even know all the names on that list, but yes about Amy. I paid little attention to Amy Goodman for years assuming she was on the benign right side, then stumbled onto who she really was and really doing... and the rabbit hole got deeper again for the 1000'th time. Yep it would be wrong to discredit anyone sincere and true, but the whole point of activism is to expose myths, lies and those who are not what they appear to be - no matter who.
Your responses on Rense tell me you missed my point. Did I say Rense wasn't factual? No. I said the opposite but said it was being delivered with very very consistent NLP and added a long list of issues that added up to shill. I listened to him until about 5 years ago when the truth dawned on me and found that I was late and not alone.
Don't forget, the counterculture/new age movement was BEGUN by the shills programmed and planted by MKUltra/CIA/Tavistock as far back as Huxley. The field has been very craftily continually littered from day one with long term agendas of pretenders, manipulators and controlled musicians, writers, media personalities and criminals. The rabbit hole (depth of deception) is DEEP and complex.
I see the info/disinfo waters as getting muddier and muddier, many 'players' using biting truths as powerful bait, and it's really necessary to vett anybody you 'agree' with... and they can still be a clever player. Who are a few of the less obvious names that you consider shills of the many in the activist world now and why?
Anyway, I don't need to give you piles of links, you know how to look up 'Rense shill' and 'Amy Goodman shill' and compare different source opinions and reasons besides mine.
Ya, that link you posted to the list of patents for highly advanced mind control devices started with 1983 and only went to 2000. The advancement since is astronomical, and for anyone to think the technologies are not being implemented and not impacting them is really, really ignorant.
-
Re: The plan to burn up northern california
Thank you for your comments but I simply do not agree ... as I've said, the real danger has to do with the discrediting of true activists by applying the "shill" label and I've seen this done repeatedly ...

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Drone War Exposed
In a major exposé based on leaked government documents, The Intercept has published the most extensive look to date at the U.S. drone assassination program. “The Drone Papers” reveals the inner workings of the U.S. military’s assassination program in Afghanistan, Yemen and Somalia, exposing a number of flaws and far more casualties than the intended targets. The documents were leaked to The Intercept by an unnamed U.S. intelligence source who says he wanted to alert Americans to wrongdoing.

Name some. But repeating this still avoids accounting for the mountains of evidence pointing to Rense as one of the more prominent and easily exposed shills as cited for years by many. Even worse than discrediting an true activist is to claim to be trustworthy then leading people down another dark path.
When you willfully ignore evidence you choose blind affiliation whether it's defending vaccination, the official 9-11 report or Rense. Credibility and integrity is lost when you don't walk your talk - telling people there's rats in their house then act just like them by refusing to out the rats in your own house.
From an overview of the prominent shill networks and players including Amy at https://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/?p=48385 :
"...GCN Network Company men Alex Jones and Jeff Rense have done more to spread a culture of fear in the patriot community than anyone else either by blackballing potential guests from their shows (and literally, the entire Genesis Communications Network), acting as censors and gatekeepers, or barring writers who speak-out from their websites. These two establishment Company Men epitomize the heavy-handed tactics used by the mainstream media to silence those who refuse to remain within the well-defined parameters of their thinly-veiled CONTAINMENT MOVEMENT..."
That's exactly what I said in the other post using different words.
Looks like it's a compliment that you and your book were rudely shunned by Rense and Tavares.

Amy Goodman is not associated with NPR. She works for Democracy Now!, a non-commercial 100% donation funded non-profit organization.
Perhaps the speaker at the Oregon Country Faire was another Amy?

Re: The plan to burn up northern california
Thanks for the info, Alex ... I read this report carefully and then did some research ... it seems that Rense left the GCN network in August of 2009 and now produces his radio program by streaming it through his own website. The only other criticism in this article has to do with his failure to comment on one particular 911 story, which is strange because he's written lots of material about 911 ... tons ...
As I've said, I don't often tune into Rense so I'm not going to spend a lot of time defending him ... and when our paths crossed my book was not yet published and there was nothing rude about this encounter ... I heard fear ...
I have no doubt that mainstream news is trying to buy and control the alternative media but that doesn't automatically discredit those who are reporting on these alternative sites, though I'm sure that the reporters have to deal with censorship ... I published the link to Amy Goodman's arrest because it's an indication of her character ...
But, with all due respect, enough of this ... I'm focused on human rights issues in this thread and I'd rather be exploring the reasons why we are now torturing and killing innocent human beings around the globe ...
( btw, pick an activist, any activist, and then enter their name into your search engine with the word "shill" after it ... I guarantee that you will find someone calling them a shill )

Amy Goodman on NPR? Really? Since when?
NPR muzzled? Really? Since when? Since NPR started soliciting and getting huge corporate donations that has since disintegrated any pretenses of objectivity or comprehensive reporting?

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Profiting from the War on Terror
Before I present evidence on this important topic I want to publicly state the following ... I am not anti-government, I am anti corrupt government ... As I've stated previously, in 2010 I became the victim of an unconstitutional investigation after I exposed criminals in my neighborhood ... I was followed around town by police and citizen informants ... I do not blame these members of our community because I now know that they were acting on orders from above, but I do not take this lightly ... this is happening to thousands of innocent citizens and I want to know why ... I want compensation for this abuse and any retaliation for this sharing of truth will be documented and reported to those looking into these matters ...
Yesterday, I found this video which states the following "An informant can earn $100,000 or more for every terrorism case that they bring to the FBI" ... bingo ... I've also been told that it takes just two citizen informants filing such claims to initiate an investigation ( which includes Cointelpro type retaliation ) ... I will try to verify this ...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGG97dDfZ7E&app=desktop
This reporting of so called terrorists involves Fusion Centers so let's look at them and let's also look at the description of "terrorists" according to our government ...
This first report is from Tom Hayden at the Peace and Justice Resource Center ... it's entitled "FBI Expands Terrorism Definition to Non-violent Civil Disobedience" ... I have read before that "animal activists" are at the top of the "watch list" ... well OK then, I guess that I'm guilty of that for trying to save the strays hanging on for dear life in the wilds of Sonoma County ... my neighbor, a huge animal activist, has also been targeted ... go figure ...
https://tomhayden.com/home/fbi-expan...l-disobed.html
This second report is from Fox News ... here's a bit of the report ...
"We were so astounded by it we couldn't believe it was real," Starrett told FOXNews.com. "It's painting such a large number of people with a broad brush in a dangerous light."
Michael German, national security policy counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union, said the report "crosses the line" and shows a disregard for civil liberties.
"It seems to implicate people who are engaging in First Amendment protected activities and suggest that something as innocuous as supporting a political candidate for office would mean that you're harboring some ill-intent," German told FOXNews.com. "It's completely inappropriate."
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/200...litia-members/
So what about these fusion centers that we're spending billions on? ... here's a report from wired.com about them producing "a load of crap"... a quote from the article ...
"As civil libertarian groups have long warned those that do are hives of incompetence, bureaucracy, mission creep and possible civil-liberties abuses. Despite instituting privacy protections in 2009, the Senate report discloses, “DHS continued to store troubling intelligence reports from fusion centers on U.S. persons, possibly in violation of the Privacy Act.”
https://www.wired.com/2012/10/fusion-centers/
So why are we spending loads of money to support anti-terrorism activities which do not work? ... and why are innocent citizens enduring unprecedented attacks without any due process? ... as usual, follow the money ...
from the article entitled "5 Companies that Make Money by Keeping Americans Terrified of Terror Attacks"
"Post-9/11 America has witnessed a boom in private firms dedicated to the hyped-up threat of terrorism. The drive to privatize America's national security apparatus accelerated in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks, and it’s gotten to the point where 70 percent of the national intelligence budget is now spent on private contractors, as author Tim Shorrock reported. The private intelligence contractors have profited to the tune of at least $6 billion a year. In 2010, the Washington Post revealed that there are 1,931 private firms across the country dedicated to fighting terrorism."
https://www.alternet.org/civil-liberties/5-companies-make-money-keeping-americans-terrified-terror-attacks#
and this from the Guardian ...
"James Woolsey, former CIA boss and influential adviser to President George Bush, is a director of a US firm aiming to make millions of dollars from the 'war on terror', The Observer can reveal.
Woolsey, one of the most high-profile hawks in the war against Iraq and a key member of the Pentagon's Defence Policy Board, is a director of the Washington-based private equity firm Paladin Capital. The company was set up three months after the terrorist attacks on New York and sees the events and aftermath of September 11 as a business opportunity which 'offer[s] substantial promise for homeland security investment'."

Constitutional lawyer John Whitehead hits the nail on the head, once again, in this excellent commentary ... with violent crime statistics actually decreasing in this country, one has to wonder about all of this, and if you're not wondering about all of this then you're asleep at the wheel and I pray for your children who are looking at a very restrictive future ... our great country has been a model for personal freedoms, including the freedom of expression ... it was a country of hard working individuals who felt protected in their lives by a strong constitution ... Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Profiting from the War on Terror
from our own Peter Phillips at Sonoma State ... I wrote to Peter several years ago after reading an expose which he published about the protocol which I was being subjected to ... he gave me good advice ...
"The 99 percent of us without wealth and private police power face the looming threat of overt repression and complete loss of human rights and legal protections. We see signs of this daily with police killings (now close to a hundred per month in the US), warrantless electronic spying, mass incarceration, random traffic checkpoints, airport security/no-fly lists, and Homeland Security compilations of databases on suspected resisters.
Each time we look past the crimes of the empire we lose a portion of our integrity of self. Ignoring repression becomes part of continuing compromise in our daily lives leading to a moral malaise and increased feelings of helplessness. We must stand up and demand democratic transparency and the international enforcement of human rights. Unless we collectively challenge the empire, we face a world that is evolving into a new dark age of neo-feudal totalitarianism unlike any previously known."

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Non Consensual Experimentation
When I had dinner with Ben Colodzin, a concerned Marin County psychologist, he mentioned two scientific capabilities which piqued my interest ... regarding non consensual electronic weapon experimentation on innocent civilians, he talked about tests to determine not only implants in the body but also tests to determine nanotech in the body ... I'm not a scientist so I didn't realize the implications of this testing ... he also mentioned SCADA ... again, I drew a blank ....
Here's a letter explaining this from Dr. Colodzin ...
https://humandignitycouncil.wordpres...colodzin-ph-d/
If you have been following this story then you've probably noticed that in the cases of Richard Cain and James Walbert ( who were implanted without their knowledge ) expert court testimony and documentation was provided by Melinda Kidder of Columbia Investigations, a private investigation company, and Dr. Hildegard Staninger.... they are the two brave women who are providing this testing ... here is a description of radio frequency scanning ( to locate frequency emitting implants in the body ) provided by Columbia Investigations ...
https://columbiainvestigations.com/H-SCADA_Scans.html
What I didn't realize is that these scans are so sensitive that they can determine the exact frequencies hitting the body of a targeted individual and then these frequencies can be traced to their source! ... folks, we're getting near to proving this disgusting and painful non consensual experimentation ... have a look ...
https://stopthecrime.net/scada%20report%20--2f.pdf
The stories reported from non consensual lab rats around the world are identical. First they are put on terrorist watch lists or criminal watch lists ... then they are attacked in ridiculous ways which are very difficult to believe ... when they report these attacks they are discredited by law enforcement and psychologists as delusional ... this allows the perpetrators of these crimes to then do whatever they want to these people, as no one will believe them or come to their aid.... it's the most barbaric practice imaginable ... and who does it benefit?
It benefits the psychologists, the private military contractors, research facilities and ultimately arms dealers ... they are literally stealing these innocent lives for their own financial gain ...
When we realize that we've become an oligarchy do we then realize the full implications of that reality? ... do we realize that not only is our government compromised by big money but also our military? ...

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Paris
While it is important to try and balance human rights/Liberties with National security, it is also imperative to balance compassion with common sense, and decency toward our rights as CITIZENS and LEGAL residents of the U.S.
I find it quite disturbing, to see the extremes the left (and org. like Catholic Charities) is willing to go to, to risk our security.
The willingness to keep thinking it's OK.to allow Illegals to continue coming into our country, while many commit horrible crimes, DUI's etc., use our social welfare programs, while Veterans and others are homeless, and in need, is very disturbing,. Now, ISIL Jihadists WILL infiltrate through the refugee stream. This is insane to allow in our country, unless you think it's fine to destabilize communities.
Obama, and Jerry Brown, are acting like this is not much concern.
That's because a member of tbeir family hasn't been harmed. As some people state, this is 'suicidal.'

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Paris
You are right to be concerned ... many "refugees" who have been welcomed into Europe have caused a great deal of trouble, and it has been noted that they are mostly young men instead of families with women and children ...
I've said it before and I'll say it again, when you allow the one percent to influence politics ( which then trickles down to police and military ) you open the door to all kinds of atrocities, because the one percent is not concerned with human rights but only profits and power as evidenced by the "trade agreements" now on the table...these profits often come from war and benefit only those in the industrial military complex ...
When people warn of global governance do you imagine that it will be fair and just and a benefit to the people? ... how would those in power achieve this? ... perhaps by destabilizing all nations? ... perhaps by dividing us by sex, race, income and religion so that we're all fighting each other instead of them? ... perhaps by causing fear and paranoia so that we suspect our neighbors and allow unconstitutional laws to be passed?
Time to look at the big picture ...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, when you allow the one percent to influence politics ( which then trickles down to police and military ) you open the door to all kinds of atrocities, because the one percent is not concerned with human rights[/QUOTE]I think you're talking about a different 1% - the mostly young men, who make up a large percentage of the refugees, aren't all "causing (a) great deal of trouble". It's probably well under 1% of the refugees who are trying to influence politics in a violent way. And it's symmetrical, 'cuz the 1% you do refer to don't all get to set the global agenda; it's a smaller percentage of them too.
And what's the problem with making trouble? A big part of the push for equality is to have women and minorities stand up and be willing to "make trouble". I forget the cliche but there's one about history never being made by those afraid to make trouble.
Fear of terrorists is leading people to take incredibly selfish and inhumane positions. Those who cry out for 'us' to unite better be inclusive about who 'us' is. It can't be an 'us' that excludes the mostly young men of the world. Protecting one's own position at the expense of other, weaker individuals is exactly the role you often decry.

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Paris
I would be the first to suggest that we help any refugees from any country, after all, we're partially responsible for bombing their countries ...
But you don't understand what I mean by "making trouble" ... these young men are not acting like grateful refugees, they're acting like hardened criminals ... I have to wonder why ... it's rather strange behavior in the circumstances and many wonder if it's engineered to convince the world that Muslims are terrorists and that we should continue our military aggression there .... btw, weapon based stocks are soaring on Wall St. after the Paris attacks ... certain people are getting rich because of all of this ....
Make no mistake, this is the one percent that I'm talking about, or the .1 percent, or the .01 percent ... doesn't matter ...

Right. We certainly wouldn't want to do THAT now would we.
Since the Jews have suffered horrendously during progroms, the Holocaust, throughout Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, maybe they should just start gassing, and beheading their past oppressors heirs, and blame it on history.
Heck, those South Africans might as well go at it too...and the Armenians, American Indians, Blacks, etc., etc...A lot of us might as well get turned into lamp shades, or chained up and thrown off the side of ships.
Ah, holding those hateful grudges for centuries and decades with murderous glee, is oh, so healing.

Ah, holding those hateful grudges for centuries and decades with murderous glee, is oh, so healing.
and the relentless urge to blame is really helpful too. To be dichotomatic about it, there are two reasons to ask the question 'why'. One's to find those to blame. Because of course you can't start crusades without a target (oh, wait, understanding the role of crusades here is actually relevant. Sorry for introducing that idea...). The other reason is to better deal with the situation. But fulminating and grandstanding and assigning blame and/or virtue and lashing out at easy targets and preferring simple fast-to-implement actions is way better than acknowledging the context and causes and rational solutions and mitigating actions. History tells us so! There's lots of examples where people acted out of passion and outrage, and things got better fast. I can't remember any off the top of my head, but it's gotta be true because it seems so right.
Unfortunately, we usually ignore these options: understanding the historical context, understanding proportionate risks (you're more likely to die in a car crash fleeing a terrorist than you are to be killed by a terrorist, to coin a new cliche), acting out of compassion for others instead of out of fear, respecting others and their different goals rather than dismissing their humanity, and focusing on your own role rather than getting wrapped up in the blameworthiness of others. I guess they seem weak, and I know that for most people they're emotionally unsatisfying. Which trumps being intellectually honest any time.

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Paris
Throughout history all races and religions have been persecuted at one time or another ... there have been racial wars, religious wars, and wars to steal land and resources ... right now in America lots of people are disappearing from our national parks ... they are all of German descent ( wtf? ) ... hate and retaliation are easy, forgiveness is not ...
But when you look at these wars you'll find that there was always someone who benefited from this "divide and conquer" strategy ... always! ... my question is, who is benefiting from the influx of obvious criminals into Europe? .... leave race and religion out of it and what you have is obvious criminals ... not all who have been abused become thugs and rapists ... why were these people selected for immigration rather than women and children who are less able to protect themselves? ... who does this benefit?
We are here ... we are discussing allowing refugees into our country ... one can talk about high minded ideals and spiritual practices of love and acceptance, but if someone is trying to harm you and your family that will soon go out the window ... to turn your back on danger and refuse to look at who's perpetrating it is contrary to survival ... I ask you ... who does that?

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Paris
Here's an example of what I'm talking about ...
"In the aftermath of the Paris attacks, media coverage has seen familiar patterns: uncritically repeat government claims, defend expansive state power, and blame the Muslim community for the acts of a few. We discuss media fearmongering, anti-Muslim scapegoating, ISIL’s roots, and war profiteering with Glenn Greenwald, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and co-founder of The Intercept. "Every time there’s a terrorist attack, Western leaders exploit that attack to do more wars," Greenwald says. "Which in turn means they transfer huge amounts of taxpayer money to these corporations that sell arms. And so investors are fully aware that the main people who are going to benefit from this escalation as a result of Paris are not the American people or the people of the West — and certainly not the people of Syria — it is essentially the military-industrial complex."

sounds kind of Trumpy. That's part of my rant I left out. Sometimes you have to abandon things when you find yourself surrounded by an ugly crowd, and come back to it later in a fresh way. Your cause can be horribly tainted by the company you keep. It's not just that it looks bad - it's a sign your cause is getting hijacked and you may end up with bad unintended consequences. For example, when a 'free speech' movement gets joined by NAMBLA members, it's time to disband and reorganize.

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Paris
I don't know where you're getting this. The videos I've seen show lots of women and men, old and young, and many, many children. Some children traveling alone. When you say: "the refugees are actually mostly comprised of angry young men", it makes no sense to me. Simply does not compute with the images I've seen. Also, the Paris attacks were committed almost entirely by citizens of European countries not refugees.
What's saddest to me is seeing how well the strategy and tactics of terrorism are succeeding. Both in Europe and the United States people are willing, in fact, eager, to give up their civil rights and implement an authoritarian state so they can feel safer. In their rage and fear they are willing and eager to rain death from the skies on populations who are trying to survive an horrific civil war with no recognition that such action ensures the survival and growth of the very enemy they are striving to eradicate.

You need to look at the links that I posted ... yes, I'm sure that there are women and children getting help, but according to UN statistics, 72% of the refugees are men ... also note that the video that I posted was taken down from youtube, ... why? .... I could post lots of links detailing the troubles in Europe ... many of these refugees are not what you would expect ... there are videos of Stockholm on fire and Swedes warning people to stay out of Europe ...
No one said that the refugees were responsible for the Paris attacks, but the perpetrators have ties to the Muslim world and this is being emphasized ...
I agree with your second paragraph ... well said ....

The "opinion piece" that you mention is based on UN statistics, and your link actually verifies those figures ...
"There have been more than 400,000 such “sea arrivals” in 2015, and 51 percent are Syrian. The rest have come mainly from nine other countries. Most of these refugees and migrants have been men — 72 percent — but these are not figures on Syrian refugees or even solely the 200,000-some Syrians who have been willing to take some type of boat to reach Europe by sea."
This is not just about Syrian refugees because as your link states the refugees have come from nine other countries ...

Here's a nice clip of Elizabeth Warren addressing the Syrian refugee crisis:
https://www.dailykos.com/stories/201...a?detail=email
Also, There was an article in the Press Democrat today (or maybe yesterday) that described what's involved in the vetting process for letting refugees into this country. It can take up to 3 years. Most terrorists don't want to wait that long, if you know what I mean.
And it turns out that all the jihadists who were behind the Paris attacks were natural born French citizens.
Just saying...

I really don't think that this is about racism ... I'm not a racist and I don't know anyone who is ... oh I'm sure that there are those who are buying the BS that all Muslims are dangerous and should be bombed, but most do not feel that way ...
The concerns are about economics, logistics, national sovereignty, and security issues that come from trickery ... people slipping in that shouldn't ... that sort of thing ... I don't think anyone would deny refuge to families who are bombed out of their homes ...
That being said, if I was a refugee then I would expect to respect the culture that had been so kind to rescue me ... that's not what I'm seeing in Europe with the current mix of refugees ...

You didn't read my link very carefully - you read the part of the article that said right-wing websites (like the one you site) are misquoting the report, whereas the actual numbers are that 50.5 percent of the refugees are women and 51.1 percent are under age 17.
And the video I refered to is the one of the Swedish citizen complaining about the increased immigration ruining their country.

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Retaliation
well let's put it this way ... when Deborah Tavares read Javanka Beckles' ( Richmond City Council member ) letter about the threat of militarized neuroscience ( mind control ) being used on an unsuspecting public at Sebastopol City Council, her actions were followed by a lawsuit, which she claimed was bogus and, in her opinion, retaliation ... keep in mind that one of her friends, radio host Jeff Rense, had just mysteriously lost consciousness on the road and nearly died from the resulting crash of his vehicle ...
I don't often use Twitter but I did receive an email notification of a process server following my account ... I can think of no reason for this so I took it as intimidation ( review Cointelpro practices ) because, as everyone knows, I publish things that are possibly threatening to certain power structures in our world .. I could be wrong, and I don't know who took down the graphic of that email, but because of constant computer tampering at my end I don't automatically blame anyone ... also, the content of that email was poorly copied onto Wacco, so that might have been the problem ...
My situation is actually getting a bit better so I will stay positive and invite dialog about some of the subjects that concern me, such as this latest topic, hoping to keep the human rights aspect of our progress in the foreground ... those that are supporting ANY progress which harms human rights need to realize that their very own children will be most affected by their decisions ...

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - The Empire's Ship is Sinking
While we run around making our final purchases for the holiday, people in the Middle East mourn their loved ones, huddle in their bombed out ruins, and search frantically for a new home ... Our veterans kill themselves in unprecedented numbers, and the military industrial complex grows wealthier ...

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - The Empire's Ship is Sinking
Thank you for this sober reminder that so much suffering exists outside of our holiday bubble. I can hardly get into a joyful place for very long, when I feel the pain of brutalization for so many human lives. My heart cracks open on a daily basis, as I come face to face with people who are homeless, hungry, vulnerable, beaten down, and in ill health physically, mentally and emotionally.
I would really like to know how members of our community share the wealth that they enjoy. I contribute personally with food, clothes, non food items and transportation. I also buy a few $10 bags in the grocery stores that they indicate provides 21 meals. I still can't imagine how this is possible. I've never looked in the bags.
I'll be joining many others at UCC for their community holiday dinner on Dec. 25, and wonder who else will be there.

I have known for some time that there's something very dangerous going on in this country ... yes, there are terrorists, but they're not who you think ... our civil liberties are under attack ... I am covertly "punished" for speaking out and I am not the only one in this county who is in this situation ...
Fortunately I'm not the only one speaking out .... from Constitutional lawyer John Whitehead who is well aware of my situation ...

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Freedom 2016
I fully understand what you're saying, and experiencing and all of it in service of this paragraph from Whitehead's article:
More Fascism: "As a Princeton University survey indicates, our elected officials, especially those in the nation’s capital, represent the interests of the rich and powerful rather than the average citizen. We are no longer a representative republic. With Big Business and Big Government having fused into a corporate state, the president and his state counterparts—the governors, have become little more than CEOs of the Corporate State, which day by day is assuming more government control over our lives. Never before have average Americans had so little say in the workings of their government and even less access to their so-called representatives."
The United States led the world in defeating fascism and Nazism 70 years ago only to replace it with an even more accomplished modern version of the same.

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Freedom 2016
Was 2015 happier and more prosperous for you than 2014? Then you may be among the 1%. Although your wealth can't guarantee your health, you may have had some set backs there, but money goes a long way in treating even the most deadly diseases. 99% will simply fall in their tracks, without notice. Children and the elderly are most vulnerable.
Though we greet each other with the standard "Happy New Year", do we realize the truth that those words are far from what most of us will experience?
REALITY CHECK for the NewYear, and Beyond. I urge you to WAKE UP to the rights you're losing every day. The true terrorists are attacking us on a daily basis, bulldozing our freedoms into rubble. We must face this truth, and become active in maintaining the freedom we have, or be buried alive! Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Freedom 2016
Focusing on all the bad stuff that's happening or could be doesn't lead to positive change. It just leaves people feeling even more powerless. Our powerlessness is the result of our isolation, of not being united in communities of mutual protection and support. They are together - united by their allegiance to the dominant power structures, and they move into the power vacuum left by our ignorance and lack of unity and solidarity. If we want to be empowered, we need to focus on what we want and need. Then we need to come together to co-create that.

Re: Human Rights Watch - A Continuing Thread - Freedom 2016
I think that our power comes from being "aware" of the realities of how our power is being taken away. It's not really true that "what you don't know, can't hurt you". Being aware is the first step, and only those with courage to speak out about the injustice that we now take for granted, can help us to know how important it is to unify.
You speak of our "ignorance" and that's the exact reason why the light needs to be focused on how our power is being undermined by those "united by their allegiance to the dominant power structures." People will not unite against an "unknown enemy". That's why the powers that be always identify the destructive actions of a targeted enemy....ie. "weapons of mass destruction" to gather focused energy to destroy, or be destroyed.
As a child I remember hearing that the people of our country would "fall, like ripe fruit", and although I didn't understand what that meant, I do now.
Yes, it's important to know what we want and need. However, what I see is that people tend to accept what's offered from out there, rather than get in touch with what they want, other than "stuff". Many times I see people respond to some new thing on Facebook, with the words "I want!" This want is then filled, until the next thing is offered, and the cycle continues.
I believe that we need a revolution that begins with our refusal to stop feeding the monsters that are growing bigger and bigger from our financial contributions to the latest, greatest things that are actually causing our loss of physical, mental, and emotional power. People are in a deadly trance, sleepwalking in the darkness of ignorance. I'm very thankful to those who turn the light on, to show us the hidden monsters. We can't fight what we can't see. And many of us, don't want to see. I've had people say to me "Don't tell me; I don't want to know!"
