Re: Sonoma County Covid-19 The Numbers
92 New Cases in Sonoma County. None were in West County.
ICU Beds available are at 5. Lowest number to date. Follow Hospitalizations here https://public.tableau.com/views/COVID-19HospitalsDashboard/Hospitals?:embed=y&:showVizHome=no
There is an article in todays Press Democrat about Shasta Çounty and how an inmate transfer led to a prison outbreak that is spreading. That's the same thing that happened at San Quentin. Prison system and their insane transfers have created a nightmare.

Re: Sonoma County Covid-19 The Numbers
The County of Sonoma did not post new numbers last night.
There is an article in todays Press Democrat that really drills down on case numbers, hospital capacity, where we are likely headed, etc. You need not have a subscription to view the article.
Re: Sonoma County Covid-19 The Numbers
Hi and thanks for the updates.
I looked at the link you provided, and it said 51 available hospital beds...(when I searched re: Sonoma County).
Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing...I'm wearing a mask and isolating etc.,
I recognize dangerous spike, and expected it --due to opening up stuff too soon...
Even if workers (wine tasting, for instance) wear masks face shields gloves etc., the people at the restaurants, wineries, bars etc., are endangering the workers (as well as themselves)...
Any way, I'm wondering where those 5 beds are available...
Thanks again for the updates!

Re: Sonoma County Covid-19 The Numbers
There are regular beds and ICU beds. ICU allows a greater level of care, needed when someone is in really bad shape. According to the PD article in an emergency they can convert a certain number of regular beds to an ICU or almost ICU level. I have not read anywhere at which hospitals or how many. The 51 is the number in current use. This is a Sonoma County only link and easier to read than the other https://experience.arcgis.com/experi.../page/page_23/

Re: Sonoma County Covid-19 The Numbers

County did not report again last night. They may have their hands full. Sonoma State has told The County they are ending their agreement to use parts of the campus for the fight against Covid-19. https://www.pressdemocrat.com/articl...noma-state-un/
Cases are going up while deaths are trending down. I listened to The Governors press conference today. He explained they are not completely sure all the reasons but he suggested it was likely due to the median age of those infected trending lower, testing is picking up more cases, better isolation of senior facilities, treatments improving. Deaths are a trailing indicator and may go back up Newsom said.
Thank You, to those who thanked me for posting the daily covid-19 numbers. We are in this once in a lifetime disrupting pandemic together. May all of us get through it in the best health and spirit we can.

Sonoma County has been added to the state's watchlist. This should give our local officials political cover to do what is needed to slow the spread. https://www.pressdemocrat.com/articl...g-total-to-14/ An examination of the Sweden experiment shows it didn't help their economy to stay open. It worked for a while but as the virus spread people sheltered themselves anyway. The economy vs saving lives is a false choice. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/07/b...ronavirus.html

We and pretty much every other state did not follow CDC guidelines on reopening and it looks like we are going to pay for it. You can see how a second wave or a second surge in the first wave gets you. Everyone is tired of it. They hang out with just a few friends who are being carful. Let their guard down, indulge in conspiracy theories. It's really terrible how the Asian and European countries have put us to shame in controlling infections. This chart is a week or so old that red line extends upward twice as far now.

Re: Sonoma County Covid-19 The Numbers
Blanket generalizations are avoidance of the truth. There is no shame in getting sick and the different ways countries and us states have delt with covid are ongoing medical experiments. So far the only places which are even close to being over it got it bad fast or let it fester. Cali is midway through the second process. Ny, Italy, Spain, Belgium took the crash course. UK midatlantic and much of the Midwest, Sweden are just about done with festering.
The good thing about festering now, which includes the majority of the us, is that western medicine has improved treatment protocols so far fewer die.
The numbers for soco will continue to rise. There is no political or personal will to go back to to full lockdown which only plateaued the numbers in Cali. The economic, social, and emotional costs are just too high.
