Oh please, don't buy into the right wing propaganda which was just for the election anyway.
ACORN is a fabulous org that has done important work for decades. They hired hundreds of people to register new voters. You try hiring hundreds of people for a low-level temporary job and avoid getting any cheaters. When ACORN saw that some of the voter registration forms (a tiny tiny fraction) were obviously falisified, they marked them as such when they turned them in. And they fired any workers caught doing this cheating. Since all voter registration forms have to be verified anyway, no fake voters actually got added to the voter lists.
Let me repeat that last part: there is zero evidence that even one single fake voter was added to voter rolls because of ACORN. None. There are ALWAYS some fakes when doing registration and they generally get caught. And since ACORN didn't ignore them: instead, they actually marked them as probable fakes, they made the job easier for the government workers processing the registrations.
But of course the "other side" just had to leap on it as a way to discredit not only ACORN but the Democratic candidate for president.
Cyndi, I don't know what kind of new sources you've been watching lately, but there is NO WAY that ACORN is off the hook for voter fraud... They are currently under investigation in 14 states for that very reason. I think it's a little suspicious when Mickey Mouse decides to leave Disney World and head for the voting booth... Up to 400,000 fraudulent ballots had to be discarded in the 2008 elections--400,000 that we know of. Even if they didn't impact the election, like some ACORN defenders say, do you really want to entrust them with the CENSUS? If they couldn't handle the 130 million Americans that voted in 2008, do you really think that they're capable of conducting a census of the entire US population in 2010? Have you not heard of the corruption spreading throughout this organization? Do you not care that ACORN workers were willing to help prostitutes illegally recruit and house underage, foreign girls for the underground sex trade? Didn't hear about the story? I bet not, since to you it's probably just more propaganda from "the other side," right? I've provided the link so you can see for yourself. I'm sure that you could even find the clip online in it's original format. In fact, if you do research on your own, you'll see that it's not just "right-wing" news outlets reporting on the story. I've included several tidbits for you to read, from sources all across the political spectrum. Obviously, something fishy is going on since the US Census Bureau has thrown ACORN under a bus. I'm not going to go into any moral or emotional arguments with you because from the looks of your post, you're clearly an ACORN supporter and nothing I say is going to change your mind. That's fine and I respect your opinions, but the cold hard FACTS are not on your side.
