George Snyder, journalist and conservationist passes
I and many others in the West County knew George Snyder personally; he cast a long shadow physically, philosophically and ethically--all in a good way. This is his obituary in the PD, which fails to mention his years of reporting local politics and writing features for Sonoma West Publishers:

Re: George Snyder, journalist and conservationist passes
George was a longtime friend and fellow traveler. He was part Choctow Native-American and always had a strong reverence for the land. George worked years for the Chronicle and then the West County Times and News. What was important about that was that he maintained his love and caring for Nature. Very balanced, not too much spirit and not too much reality! He knew where truth lived.Great family. Actually went to Fish and Wildlife Advisory Board meetings for years. He took habitat seriously.
I might miss George for a month or two but it was always "Hay How ya' doing?" Then we'd jump into some topic, I can hear him say "What'd ya' think about...." His friends always ended up together in some semi-serious conversation. Now, I'll miss George a while longer but I will think about him positively forever. He went too soon. We all love you Sara (wife).
