Try Math software such as Math Advantage. You'd be surprised how helpful it can be from fractions to Statistics. It'll give him a leg up on college prep and he can do it at his own pace. Ice QueenQuote:

If you can find out what music they're into, either latest release CD's on that or T- shirts w/ the band on it. Also the little MP-3 players hold a lot of music and are much less expensive than an i-pod. The movie ticket passes thing is also probably a great idea. Avoid the darn video games, it makes them completely lazy and addicted couch potatoes while their brains are still forming.
