Do you take vitamins? How good are they?
The RDA (recommended daily allowance) of vitamins and minerals were first published in 1941 based on the minimal amount required to avoid illness; thus 15-30mg daily of Vitamin C prevents scurvy. Since then, various levels have been updated in various years, some not since 1989. There is a move to have the FDA control all supplementation and take vitamins away from general public access. Sometimes I wonder if that might not be a good idea because people do not seem to be doing their due diligence investigating the supplements they take, but instead going on blind faith on the profiteering systems. I see people purchasing what I suspect are poor quality vitamins that simply add to the toxicity of the human system. For instance, many vitamins have toxic additives such as coal tar. If you want to know if yours contains that, you can test it by baking the vitamin for 10 minutes at 250 degrees ( do not do this with a gel cap). If black oozes out, you likely would be better off without that vitamin; this according to Anne Gordon, RN, who wrote the book "How to Strengthen the Immune System."

>"Allowing these same entities to surveil and track a majority of Americans and to use the country’s population as guinea pigs for unlicensed, understudied, and experimental vaccine technologies is a clear recipe for disaster. At the same time, it would also enable a surveillance panopticon so dystopian and far reaching that Americans stand to lose not only their few remaining civil liberties but even sovereignty over their own bodies."<

I researched many of the supplement brands sold at health food stores using GMOs as the primary criteria. That information is available at a shopper's guide that I created at http://OccupySonomaCounty.org. The shopper's guide hasn't been updated recently but the supplement information is still accurate. You can customize your use of that guide by selecting Supplements as the search criteria.
The supplement brand that I personally like the best for quality is MegaFoods. They are Prop 65 compliant which means that they test their products to be free from pesticides and heavy metals. At the time when I was researching supplements Country Life brand was transitioning off of GMOs so their newer products are much better. If you look at the label, the ones that say NO GMOs are the new ones. Another main criteria for the shopper's guide is who owns the company. I used to use Garden of Life extensively until they sold out to Nestle. I wrote letters to all of these supplement companies to vet their products. Solgar was not as transparent as the other companies so I trust them less than the ones that admit to which products have ingredients I don't like and which ones don't. Particularly look for what country the ingredients came from. Ingredients from India, China and Sri Lanka are prone to high lead and other heavy metals because of the amount of coal power used in those countries. That guideline goes for tea too. Gaia Herbs is very reliable and transparent, as well as Numi and Traditional Medicinal teas. Locally, I have found Rosemary's Garden to be reliably excellent in the quality and purity of their medicines, and Community Market's bulk herbs are good too.
Check out the shopper's guide and please share your information with me if you see any gaps in my research.

One nutritional supplement that I know for certain works for me is Vitamin D3, whether synthetic or in a capsule. Five thousand units of D3 a day keeps me out of anxiety (unless there's something to be worried about--it doesn't make me dopey or careless.) After several months at that dose, I was able to come down to 4k per day. I've always tended to favor synthetics because they're more stable, but I'll have to give that oven test a try.
