WaccoBB Quote System Changes
Formerly, when replying to a post, the system would automatically include the full text of the post that is being replied to. For years I've been editing those quotes down to the most relevant bit, but I'm done doing that :atwork:.
So now there will just be our groovy Wacco quote icon with a link to the original post (click on the "view post" icon:
You'll still be able to include quotes of any portion of a post on on the thread by:
- Scroll down the page where previous posts are displayed and copying the desired text.
- Scroll back up to the editing box and paste in your selected text.
- Highlight the pasted in text and then click the quote tool:
This will inclose the selected text with Quote Tags. This will generate a quote box when the post is saved and displayed.
If you want to get fancy, you can edit in the quote source into the opening quote tag with a preceding "=" sign. So for instance:
Change [QUOTE] to [QUOTE=Barry]
Let me know if you need help or have any comments about this, either publicly or privately.

Here's a demo of how to selectively quote a prior post and have that show up in your post:
I forgot to mention that you're also welcome to include the text: {poster's name} wrote: in the beginning of your quoted text. For example:
{quote}Barry wrote: Some original post blah blah blah{/quote}
(i've used curly brackets above so they won't get interpreted as real quote tags. )
WaccoBB Quote System Changes
:waccosun: Quote System Change! :waccosun:
I've just changed the system to make it easier to selectively include a quoted portion of a post when replying.
See the demo below:
When replying to a post, I strongly encourage you to include quote of the most relevant section of the post you are replying to in order to give the reader proper context. Remember, your post may show up on the following day's digest of from the post you are replying to.
Again, please keep your quotes short (like a few sentences). If the reader wants to see the original post in full, they can click on the View Post https://www.waccobb.net/forums/wacco...3_14-07-00.png button.
Thanks!
Barry
