Re: Sonoma County to TEST alert & warning systems on September 10 & 12
I thought it was funny that when I signed up on SoCoAlerts and entered my number I was not asked whether it was a landline or cell phone. That seems to be something they would want to know. Would they try to send a text to a landline; in which case it would not go through? Do they have some way of knowing the type of line based on the number you entered? I doubt it.

There are several services that can determine if a phone number is a land line or mobile. I am not familiar with with them, but they say it is available.

You can logon to your SoCoAlert account, if you have one, and generate a "test call."
I had my concerns, so I logged on to see if my correct information was there. Then initiated a test call. First it "failed." On the second try it worked, so I feel better about it now.
Try # 1 -
Phones
Launch Test Call FAILED TO INITIATE CALL
Phone Number : 707546xxxx
TDD/TTY device - Tone delivery, for hearing impaired: No
Try # 2 -
Phones
Launch Test Call CALL HAS BEEN INITIATED
Phone Number : 707546xxxx
TDD/TTY device - Tone delivery, for hearing impaired: No

Can you post a link to log on to an existing account? I could only find a link to create an account.
