Speeding ticket on Bodega Ave in Sebastopol?
It's been awhile since I've driven out Bodega Ave past Luther Burbank Farm and Parkside School and noticed a bunch of new permanent speed poles that track your speed through there - one of them flashed a bright white light at me after it was signaling my over-the-limit speed (i was going about 30 in that 25 mph zone) - It looked a lot like a camera flash. Has anyone encountered this and gotten a ticket?

Accord to Chief Weaver, the flash is just to get your attention. Those signs are educational only. They don't have the capacity to take photographs or record any other data. :whew:

Oh, good; I just wish they'd spent the $ on filling a few potholes instead......

There may not be cameras, but I have seen the cops hiding out along those side streets, and Sebastopol cops are merciless. I would slow down if I were you. if you want to avoid a ticket thru there.

I once got a notice in the mail that my speed had been recorded on that street, going over the speed limit. It was a warning that I may be charged, next time. My impression was that there was an automatic device to record and save the license number of speeders on that section you are discussing. It's been a while but the context of the letter did not seem to indicate a person clocked my speed.
Scott.

From Chief Weaver:
It was not electronically generated. Due to on-going complaints from residents on Bodega Avenue, especially residents of Burbank Heights and Orchards, about speeding on Bodega Avenue, we had our Community Service Volunteers monitor the speed of vehicles on Bodega Avenue using a radar gun. They recorded the time, license plate, and description of any vehicles traveling 10 or more miles over the speed limit. Later, the volunteers provided the information to our dispatchers who obtained the name and address of the vehicle's registered owner. The dispatchers then generated the letters, they were signed and mailed. No record was kept of the letters; they were educational only.
And we continue to get complaints about speeding on Bodega Avenue, which is why the new Speed Awareness Signs were purchased and installed and why our officers continue to conduct speed limit enforcement in the area.
