Don DeViveiros
Gifted Sebastopol artist and friend Don DeViveiros passed this morning. If you have known Don well enough to wish to attend a celebration of his life some time in the near future, please reply to me privately, and I'll keep you posted on whatever develops regarding this.

Re: Don DeViveiros
We are tentatively planning a potluck memorial for Don DevViveiros at the Sebastopol Oddfellows' Hall on Monday May 23 beginning at 6:00 PM. Don will have been 81 on that day.
There is also a tentatively planned exhibit of his artwork at the Sebastopol Library during the month of August. Two of the organizers of that event stopped by my boot shop Wednesday afternoon to see the collection of art [and crafts] that Don has given me over the years. If everyone contributes a minimum of $20, it will pay for the Oddfellows' Hall rental, and we can purchase print media announcements of the different events planned to celebrate Don's life all in one submission. And, we can print flyers.
With that said, to date I have collected $120 and if you know anyone who would like to contribute, please give them my telephone number or stop by the boot shop. Also, I could use some help organizing the Oddfellows' Hall memorial event and if anyone will offer to help, I will thankfully welcome them.
Finally, the correct spelling for Don's last name is DeViveiros. As Don once said to me; "It's DeViveiros like deviveiros from evil."
Your friend and neighbor as ever, Michael (707) 823-7204 [boot shop]

Re: Don DeViveiros
Don was an important artist in our community. I saw his wonderful work years ago at Kysie Horn's Quicksilver Art Gallery in Forestville. I particularly like how he captured the history of buffaloes and bows. Some of his art can be viewed at Michael's boot shop.
I am also planning to host a memorial to Don on KOWS-FM radio, which is scheduled for the same day as the potluck memorial that Michael is organizing. It will be from 2-3 p.m. People who would like to speak about Don can contact me at [email protected].
KOWS studio is at the Sebastopol Methodist Church, downtown across from Safeway. The studio is in Room 1, up the hill, to the back of the sanctuary. It has a cow in the window and a balcony in front. People are welcome to come early, sign up to speak, and come and go from the studio to the balcony as they need to.
KOWS offered such a show when poet Gor Yaswen passed last month. We may do such on-the-air memorials for community, artists, activists, teachers, etc. in the future.
