Not quite what you're asking for, but I recommend "Daughters of Fire" by Tom Peek. It's a novel, but it has a lot of historical information, and includes glossary with some common Hawaiian words and how to pronounce them. It was interesting going to one of the parks and hearing the park ranger talk about the history that I had just been reading about in the novel. Unfortunately it's not a small book.
Try James Michener's "Hawaii." Epic, historical, entertaining.
