Solar PV users--PG&E's E-7 Schedule changes
Dear friends,
As solar PV users on PG&E's grid, we have to decide before the end of this month which new schedule to use because they are eliminating the E-7 time of use rate schedule.
Does anyone have advice on this? The person at Sonoma Clean Power has been talking with us but she has not yet received the actual $$ amounts from PG&E. If we do nothing (which I'm sure a lot of people will), our schedule reverts to a basic $ per unit of electricity used, and will cost more that it does now.
The other offered schedules don't look good, either . . . they are eliminating the good deals for weekend and evening use, and one of them offers no discount until 11:00 at night.
Any ideas on this please let me know.
Many thanks,
R

PG&E offers 3 new Time Of Use schedules for solar owners. The important consideration is that they have to pay you for your solar production at the same rate that you have to pay them for your electricity consumption. Only one of the 3 options, E-6, has the peak rate falling in the middle of the day (or anyway, this is the nearest to that), which is when solar production is highest, and when they have to pay you the most. The other two are hopeless for catching the sun, though PG&E doesn't mention that in their materials.
All the options, including E-6, are very awkward to work with, and seem calculated to penalize people for using solar, but E-6 is the best.

After reading the thread, I wondered why I hadn't gotten a letter telling me the news. But I called up PG&E this morning to change over to E-6. Turns out that's what I had anyway. I'm not sure how it differs from E-7, but I've been doing all right with E-6.
Also I found this page, https://sonomacleanpower.org/wp-cont...tter-FINAL.pdf , which has a little flow chart to help you find the plan suitable for you.
