Political Cartoons - Summer 2015

Re: Political Cartoons - Summer 2015
Thanks for the illustrated commentary on an extraordinary week. I'm a native Californian of a certain age, who studied the antebellum South at Berkeley. As a professional, I spent some transformational years in Charleston. The significance of the convergence of this week's events cannot be overstated and frankly gives me chills. While much work remains, and frightening lash-backs can be expected, I'm hoping the spirit of compassion and reconciliation, so magnificently expressed by African-Americans standing on a street named Calhoun, will prevail among all our peoples and controversies. Yes, it will take time. Onward into the Eternal Now.

Indeed it was an extraordinary week for our country. A time to take a break from our usual cynicism and savor the moment.

New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand stopped by The Daily Show to discuss, among other things, trying to push a 9/11 First Responders bill through an unwilling Congress. With a frustration that turns quickly to something quite resembling rage, Jon Stewart asks her to name names.
